Taught by Maitre de Sabre Wang Yung, the goals are to learn a system of footwork and blade-work that has earned his students multiple World Championships. IFA Member: $70 / Non-Member $90

Infinity Fencing Alliance Sabre Intensives are structured like a minicamp, taught by Maitre de Sabre Wang Yung. The goals of the mini-camp are to learn footwork and blade-work that has earned Yung and his three students 32 Veteran World Championship medals in individual and team events. Maitre Yung’s coaching and fencing has brought 20 Gold medals to the US in 12 straight Veteran World Championships from 2010 to 2023.  On three occasions, Yung’s coaching resulted in triple gold medals for the U.S. in a single World Championship. This feat occurred in 2014, 2015 and 2023.

Students in the Intensive will learn through lectures, demonstrations, drills, and bouting.

The fencer will: Increase awareness and tactical use of space and time through the control of distance, timing and tempo using footwork and blade-work for offensive and defensive actions.

Footwork: Maitre Yung wrote his maitre thesis on his footwork and has been teaching his method since 2005. This footwork has been a key component in the success of many of his students.

Blade-work: Given the speed of sabre, control of blade actions is another key component for efficient offensive and defensive actions.

Psychology and tactics: Because Maitre Wang is still an active international competitor he is acutely aware of the psychological aspects of competing. He was an “A” competitor and a 14 US Vet Teams member. He has won 8 world medals including Gold in Vet 60 Sabre in 2011. Since the 2018 Vet Worlds, he has placed 2nd, 7th, 7th and 5th.  The sabre intensives interweave the psychological and tactical aspects of competition.
