Saturday Seminar 10am-6pm; 45 min lunch Sunday Practicals 10am-4pm; 45 min lunch Parent Seminar Friday 6-8pm - How to help your fencer with a referee situation; $25 extra

There is a pre-clinic seminar Friday evening, March 15, 6-8pm for parents for an additional $25. This is a separate registration and fee from the Referee Clinic. There have been multiple reports made to the National Office concerning the refereeing at recent Regional tournaments. This parent seminar is to provide an environment where parents may ask what ways they may help their fencers when these incidents occur.

Saturday, the clinic will begin at 10am. You will be given practical information and real-life studies in foil, sabre and epee refereeing. The information you will be given is meant to help you pass the referee exams. Practicals will be on Sunday.

Mark Stasinos is an N in all three weapons; is a Referee Assigner at National Championships and other National tournaments; and is a Master Coach. His student, Julie Seal, is also a master coach, and is one of our best Sabre fencers. Mark has been the Head Referee for NCAA championships for several years.

Anyone who takes the seminar, passes the exams and is observed at the Wang Memorial March 23-24 will receive $50/full day of refereeing if they earn, renew or increase their referee rating. This is a great opportunity for fencers to reduce their participation fees for tournaments. More importantly, refereeing makes you a better fencer. Refereeing and taking an in-person clinic gives you better insight into how a referee sees actions differently than how you believe you execute them.
