This clinic is designed for intermediate and advanced epee fencers. USFA membership and a full uniform are required. Fee $125. Maximum 20 attendees.

Indianapolis Fencing Club Epee Clinic Fencing Master Simon Pitfield of Davis Fencing Academy will share not only drills and techniques, but also the strategy and pedagogy behind them. This will leave participants with a stronger understanding of epee fencing and the tools to continue improving their fencing after the clinic is over. Each fencing session will include instruction in footwork, blade work, and bouting. This clinic is designed for intermediate and advanced epee fencers. Attendance is limited to 20 fencers. USAF membership and a full uniform are required (trial membership forms will be available for non-USAF members, but a parent/guardian signature will be required for those under the age of 18). Schedule: Session 1: Friday 7-10 p.m. This session will focus on technique and accuracy. Blade work will focus on series of drills to improve accuracy, distance and timing. Session 2: Saturday 9 a.m.-noon Footwork will focus on distance control and use of advanced techniques, including the appel, ballestra, and fleche. Blade work will improve beats and parries, both technique and timing. Session 3: Saturday 1-2 p.m. Strategy and tactics discussion. Please bring your questions as fencing is a very personalized sport and discussion leads to a greater understanding of how to improve your game. Session 4: Saturday 2-5 p.m. This footwork session will include drills for power and acceleration. This fencing session will focus on strategy and bout critique. In 2016 he became the Youth National Team Coach for USA Pentathlon. While his students have received national points in all three weapons, his favorite is epee. His competitive students typically earn their “C” in 2-3 years and most of his graduating seniors go on to fence in college. Preregistration opens on 08/08/2018. Preregistration closes on 10/18/2018.
