The SoCal Scholastic Fencing League is proud to host its Foil Tournament for Middle School and High School fencers. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the schedule for this season has been shortened. This event date may also change due to recommendations/restrictions from the United States Fencing Association and from state/local government regulations. Pre-registration will not be open until end of November 2020. For up to date information, please check our website at https://www.schsfence.org/ The SoCal Scholastic Fencing League individual foil events are open to all Middle School and High School students in the respective academic/grade categories. Middle School events are for fencers attending 6th through 8th grade. High School events are for fencers attending 9th through 12th grade. The high school events are recognized by USA Fencing and is sanctioned. Classifications can now be earned at our High School events! Proof of grade (School ID) and proof of USFA competitive membership is required upon check in. No exceptions. If your school does not issue a school ID, please bring proof of school enrollment, i.e. registration, letter from school stating grade, etc. To purchase USFA Competitive Membership on-line, please use link below: https://www.usafencing.org/membership Location: To be Announced. Events Scheduled: 9:00 AM Men's High School Foil 11:00 AM Women's High School Foil 1:00 PM Men's Middle School Foil 1:00 PM Women's Middle School Foil Tournament Fees: Non-League School Fencer: $20.00 Registration and $40.00 per event (Total 60.00 if fencing one event) League School Fencer: $10.00 When preregistering PLEASE LIST YOUR SCHOOL as your primary club. If you are not enrolled in below mentioned league schools, you are considered a Non-League school fencer. League Schools are: Brentwood School Chaminade Middle School And High School Harvard Westlake Middle School and High School Lakeview Middle School (Victorville) Le Lycee Francais Central LA #9 (VAPA) Oakwood High School Victor Valley High School Vistamar High School Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Equipment: A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers. Socks must cover all the leg not covered by the knickers. Women's equipment must include breast protectors made of metal or rigid material inside the jacket. The appropriate glove, lame, and mask for the weapon being fenced are required. Please wear shoes with non-marking or white soles to all competitions. All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask. Foil Fencers: USFA Foil "Padded" chest guards will be enforced. Material must have the SEMI technical mark at the center of the upper edge, per USA Fencing Rules of Competition, section m.25.4(c) **Facial Masks, with more that 2 layers, must be worn at all times during the tournament and while fencing. **There will be more information on safety procedures and social distancing procedures. Inspections: Masks and gloves will be inspected by the armorer. Weapons will be tested on the strip. You will not be allowed to fence with weapons that do not conform to USFA standards. Format: There will be one round of pools with 100% advancing to direct elimination in all individual competitions. The direct elimination bouts will be fifteen touch bouts, with the appropriate breaks determined by which weapon is being fenced.
