Indiana Fencing Academy welcomes all fencers to our Summer Fencing Camp. Learn from one of the top epee coaches in the nation! Fencing is one of the most elegant and interesting sports of our time. It develops athletic and personal skills such as coordination, speed, strength, discipline, individualism and sportsmanship. Don't miss this opportunity to come and train with Coach Cedric Loiseau from Notre Dame, Assistant Coach for the USA National Fencing Team, and Coach Marie Loiseau, head coach of Escrime du Lac! Coach Cedric Loiseau 2022-Present: USA Women's Epee Assistant Coach 2013-Present: Associate Head Coach of Notre Dame Fencing, Notre Dame Epee Coach, and Escrimé du Lac Epee Coach 2004: Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Exercise Science, University of Reims Cedric brings many personal experiences on the strip with him to Notre Dame, with eight senior/cadet-junior event championships to his name and finishing the season as the top-ranked fencer nationally in France across two different flights. In his nine years of coaching prior to joining Notre Dame, Cedric coached multiple teams and individuals to medal at the national level. Coach Marie Loiseau 2016-Present: Escrimé du Lac Epee Coach Marie began fencing at age five. As a Cadet (17 and under) she fenced for France in national and international competitions. Students of her Epee program at Escrime du Lac are now fencing at regional, national and Junior Olympic level. Assistant Coaches will also be present to allow for additional personalized fencing instruction. The camp is for beginners, intermediate, and advanced fencers with a focus on Summer National/July Challenge preparation. Day Schedule June 27 Registration 8:45 am - 9:00 am June 27 - 30 Lessons 9:00 am - 1:00 pm No lunch break is provided and fencers should be prepared to fence until lessons conclude at 1pm. It is recommended each camper have their own water bottle. Topics of instruction to include the following: CONDITIONING Learn exercise routines proven at Olympic Training Centers that will strengthen your fencing abilities and increase stamina. FOOTWORK / BLADEWORK Learn and improve your blade work and footwork - the two most important aspects of fencing. TACTICS Tactical skills will be taught extensively throughout the camp. BOUTING Bouting sessions will be an integral part of the camp. ARMORY Learn basic equipment management and repair. Fencing equipment will be provided for the Beginner campers who do not own their own equipment. All Club equipment must remain on premises at all times. Long athletic pants, shirt and athletic shoes are required. All campers must keep their area neat and clean. All campers must abide by the Club’s Code of Conduct.
