Purpose: To raise funds for Matthew and Karen Porter, who lost their home and all their possessions, and their business, American Fencers Supply, to the Clayton Fire in Lower Lake, CA. Mathew Porter was serving as TEAM USA’s armorer at the Rio Olympics.

A BENEFIT TOURNAMENT FOR MATTHEW AND KAREN PORTER! IT IS TIME FOR US TO DO SOMETHING FOR OUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR ALL OF US OVER MANY YEARS IN FENCING! Purpose: To raise funds for Matthew and Karen Porter, who lost their home and all their possessions, and their business, American Fencers Supply, to the Clayton Fire in Lower Lake, CA. Matthew Porter was serving as TEAM USA’s armorer at the Rio Olympics at the time of the fire. We're hoping that the Bay Area fencing community will support this fundraising effort and help Matthew and Karen rebuild after their devastating loss. Events Scheduled: Men’s and Women’s Opens... - Epee at The Fencing Center, - Saber at Premier Fencing Academy, - Foil at Halberstadt Fencers' Club $50 Suggested donation / Entry fee Donations minus referee expenses will be donated to the Porters. The clubs and tournament staff will be donating their time, and we're asking referees to donate part of their time. Porterhouse steaks for the winners! Special prizes for finalists! Special hand-made trophies for highest placing veterans in Women's Epee, Men's Foil, and Women's Saber. Preregistration closes on 10/15/2016. Age Criteria for Open Events: The USA Fencing Board of Directors has ruled that for any USFA competition that is not specific to an age group, an athlete must be at least 13 years old as of January 1 of the fencing season. The exemption to this rule applies to any fencer who is younger than 13 on January 1 but who is listed on the latest National Junior Point standings; then that fencer is allowed to compete in the USA Fencing competitions not specific to an age group. The athlete must meet any other criteria stated for that competition. Examples of such non-specific competitions are: "Open", "Unclassified", "A" competitions, "C" or under competitions, Team competitions of any category unless specified for juniors or similar age restricted category.
