HAWAII OPEN 2018 Balmy weather. Beautiful venue. Great Fencing. Cash Prizes. https://www.hawaiifencingopen.com/ Aloha Fencers! Join us for the 2018 Hawaii Open. The Ala Wai Palladium, with eucalyptus hardwood floor, breathtaking vistas of the Ko’olau mountains and iconic Diamond Head, is easily one of the most beautiful venues to hold a fencing tournament in Hawaii. Four events will be held at the 2018 Hawaii Open: Mixed Foil, Mixed Epee, Mixed Vet Foil, and Mixed Vet Epee. Thanks to our generous donors, there will be a $1000 cash prize award for first place in all 4 events, provided these events reach an “A” rated qualification. If the events qualify as “B” rated events, the cash prizes will beset to $500. If the events qualify as “C” the cash prizes will be $250. This will be a USFA sanctioned tournament and ratings will be awarded according to the USFA classification chart. Current USFA competitive membership is required. USFA regulation uniforms please (Names on jackets or knickers are Not required). Head referee: Kyle Wolfson (Portland) Armorer: Mike Aiau (San Diego) Registration: There is a cap of thirty (30) fencers per event. When the maximum number is reached and/or the registration deadline has passed (midnight 03/24/2018), the registration will be closed. Registration fee is non refundable after midnight 03/24/2018. Event fees: $20 tournament registration fee (non refundable after 3/24). $30 per single event - $25 per event for senior fencers competing in both events that day. $20 per single event for 18 and under ($30 for 2 events over 2 days.) Schedule of Events: Saturday, 03/31/2018 8:00 am - Doors Open 9:00 am - Lion Dance ceremony 9:30 am - Open Mixed Foil 1:00 pm - Veteran Mixed Foil Sunday, 04/01/2018 8:00 am - Doors open 9:30 am - Open Mixed Epee 1:00 pm - Veteran Mixed Epee You will need:
  • Proof of USFA membership, FIE license, or foreign federation membership. If no membership provided, fencer has to complete and pay for USFA fencing membership at the door.
  • Signed waiver.
  • Proof of age – ID, passport, or USFA membership card.
  • Per event:
      2 functional weapons, 2 bodycords, 2 mask cord.
      Lame with NO dead spots (foil only)
      Gloves with no holes
      USFA regulation mask for foil or epee.
All events will be fenced as a single round of pools, 100% promoted to direct-elimination, no fence-off for third. Medals will be awarded to the top 4 overall finishers.
