2023-24 SoCal Division Summer National Qualifiers

The Southern California Division 2023-2024 Summer National Qualifier for Men's and Women's Division 2/3 and Y14 events in all 3 weapons is ONLY open to members of the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Division, who are US citizens or permanent residents and meet the following eligibility requirements:

Y14: Born 2009-2012 or Y12 National Points

DV2: Born 2010 or earlier, and a rating of C, D, E or U

DV3: Born 2010 or earlier, and a rating of D, E or U

This years Summer Nationals will be held in Columbus, Ohio from June 19 to July 8, 2024. Please sign up only if you intend to compete in the Summer Nationals once qualified. If you already qualified for Summer Nationals for Y14, Division 2/3 events, you do not have to compete in this tournament. RESTRICTED TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DIVISION MEMBERS ONLY

We will not allow fencers to participate if their membership does not show Southern California as their division on the United States Fencing Association (USA Fencing) website. Please make sure USA Fencing has this on file by March 15th, 2024. (Every Division will hold their own Summer National Qualifiers.)

Fencers are required to show Proof of USFA Membership required, proof of age (Passport, Driver license, birth certificate) unless age verified with USFA.

Rating changes on AskFRED are NOT official. Only ratings listed on the USA Fencing Website as of March 15, 2024 will be acknowledged.

Please Note: Only Rubber-soled shoes are allowed in the gymnasium. PLEASE respect the venue!

**Pre-payment is required to Complete Registration. Incomplete registrations will be deleted after the deadline.

Waiver fees will be considered on a case by case basis. These are for fencers who have financial hardships. Please contact jbeihold@gmail.com for consideration.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help set up: First 4 fencers to sign up to setup equipment will have registration fee waived. Please contact jbeihold@gmail.com to sign up.

**EVENTS WITH FEWER THAN 4 FENCERS REGISTERED BY THE MARCH 14, 2024, DEADLINE WILL BE CANCELED. FENCERS SIGNED UP ON CANCELLED EVENTS WILL AUTO QUALIFY FOR THE EVENT. FENCERS WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND FOR CANCELED EVENTS. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE DOOR FOR CANCELLED EVENTS.

Events will start approximately 15 minutes after the close-of-check-in times. Event schedule is subject to change and may be updated one week before the tournament depending on the number of entries in each event.

For complete qualifying and appeal information, please refer to the 2023-2024 Athlete Handbook which can be downloaded from the USFA website.

Fence offs to break ties will only be done if needed. 100% promotion, however if necessary due to tournament circumstances, only 80% may be promoted.

Ratings will used from the USA Fencing website as of Friday, March 15th, 2024.  Any ratings earned after that or not reported to the national office will not be used.

Fencers who finish in the top 3 places or place top 25% of their events, whichever number is more, will qualify for the Summer Nationals Championships. For complete qualifying and appeal information, please refer to the 2023-24 Athlete Handbook which can be downloaded from the USA Fencing website.

Fencers will be required to submit masks and glove for inspection.

When determining who has qualified for a Championship, only fencers who qualify through National Points are skipped over to the next eligible fencer.

The 2024 Summer Nationals will be held in Columbus, Ohio from June 29 to July 8, 2024. https://www.usafencing.org/summernationals2024
