54th Annual Green Gator

History The Green Gator Invitational was first held in March 1966. It is one of the largest fencing events in the Southeastern U.S., drawing competitors from Florida, as well as international fencers from Latin America and Europe. Its name comes from, obviously, the color of the UF mascot, but also the event's proximity to St. Patrick's Day. The last consecutive annual tournament was held in 1999. The event was revived on its 40th Anniversary in 2006. 2020 will mark the 54th Anniversary of the Green Gator Classic. ALL FENCERS MUST HAVE CURRENT USFA COMPETITIVE MEMBERSHIP. Fees A's fence for free! $20 registration fee, $20 first event, and $15 subsequent events Door registration $50 First event; $40 Additional events Officials All referees for the events are certified and rated officials. Mary Mahon, FIE rated referee in all three weapons, will be the head referee for the event. Interested referees may contact Alicia Lores at alicialores131@gmail.com. Parking and Venue On the weekends, all parking is open in the Southwest Recreation Center lot, as well as the Commuter Lot across the road. The venue is basketball courts 5 and 6, with a fencing-specific entrance on the North side of the building. College Students The University of Florida Fencing Team happily welcomes all collegiate fencers from across the southeastern region.
