The clinic will cover all three weapons and is for fencers, coaches, and parents. The goal of the clinic is to help people interpret the US Fencing rulebook and how to apply the rules. This is also a prerequisite for all aspiring referees. SPECIAL NOTE: THIS SEMINAR WILL HAVE THE LATEST CURRICULUM REVISION AND VIDEO EXAMPLES! Location: Washington State University WSU Smith Gym 117 Pullman, WA Time: Sat 1/13 1pm-9pm Seminar Sun 1/14 11a-6p Observational tournament Cost: $75 (cash or check to Kevin Mar please) The seminar portion will cover a broad understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and duties as a referee. All participants should peruse the US Fencing Rulebook so there is a general understanding. This class is not meant to substitute reading the material, it is meant to augment what you have read and learned thus far. Upon completing the full seminar, all perspective fencing referees are encouraged to take the online exam. To pass the exam, a candidate must pass the general section and at least one specific weapon section with a 90% score. When a candidate completes the seminar and passes the general section and at least one specific weapon exam, they will receive a "P" (Pass) for that particular weapon. To move from a “P” to a 10 or higher, a referee must be observed by a referee examiner (Kevin is an examiner). The ratings start from a 10 and increase to the top level of a 1.
