Instead, drive to the corner of Grove St and 18th St. Turn left and proceed about 200 yards, turn left into the lot. You can park anywhere as long as you stay well right. Do not block any truck bays or construction areas. Do not go left into The Cake Boss’s parking area. Note, you will have to walk back to the Club entrance on Grove Street so if you are driving a fencer, you may want to drop the fencer off with their equipment so they can go up to the fourth floor and check in. Live tournament seeding and results (during competition): http://www.cobrafencing.com/results ================================================================================================================================================================== REGIONAL OPEN CIRCUIT ROC tournaments are open to all current USFA competitive members eligible to fence in Open competitions and to foreign fencers with current FIE licenses. ROC events function as qualifiers to the National Championships Division 1A, Division 2, and Veteran Categories, and may qualify fencers to other events, depending upon classification and status. ROC Regional Points will be awarded to 40% of the competitive field. The USFA Athlete Handbook contains detailed information on qualifying pathways and should be consulted as the appropriate reference document. ROC tournaments are open to current USFA competitive members eligible to fence in Open competitions and to foreign fencers with current FIE licenses. However, foreign fencers are not eligible to compete in USA Fencing National Championship events. In the event that a foreign fencer finishes within the qualifying group, the foreign fencer will be skipped and only the highest-finishing eligible domestic fencers will qualify. Qualification Path to Nationals from the DV2 ROCs •Be on the current season's DV1-A Regional Open Circuit point standings (must meet classification requirements) at the regular fee entry deadline for the 2016 USA Fencing National Championships. •Be on the Division II Regional Open Circuit point standings at the regular fee entry deadline for the 2016 USA Fencing National Championships. 2.11.5.1 Division 1 (DVI) National Championships The Division 1 National Championships are held annually in April. This event, along with other designated competitions, is part of the selection criteria for the Senior World Championship or Olympic Team. A. Eligibility (age, classification, qualification path) Fencers must be 13 years old by January 1 (see Table 2.5.1 for exceptions) of the current season. Fencers must have a classification of “A”; “B”, or “C”; at the entry deadline and be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident B. Qualification Fencers must meet eligibility requirements AND: · Be on the current Senior National Rolling Point Standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR · Be in the top 8 of the adjusted* Junior national rolling point standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR · Be in the top 4 of the adjusted* Cadet national rolling point standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR · Have placed in the top 8 in the previous season’s Division I-A National Championships OR · Have placed in the top 4 in the previous season’s Division II National Championships OR * Age adjusted, reflecting updated points lists after the ineligible Cadet & Junior fencers are “aged out”; after the end of their current season. 2.11.5.2 Division I July Challenge The July Challenge is held in June/July, in conjunction with the USA Fencing National Championships. This event constitutes the beginning of the Senior/open season. A. Eligibility for Division 1(age, classification, qualification path) Fencers must be 13 years old by January 1 (see Table 2.5.1 for exceptions) of the current season Fencers must have a classification of “A”, “B”, or “C”; at the entry deadline B. Qualification Fencers must meet eligibility requirements AND: · Be on the current Senior National Rolling Point Standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR · Top 48 of Junior NRPS at the regular fee deadline and age eligible OR · Top 24 of the Cadet NRPS at the regular fee deadline and age eligible OR · Top 16 from Div I-A Regional Points Standings OR · Be in the top 4 of the Division II regional points at the regular fee entry deadline OR · 2016 NCAA National Championships Individual Competitors (24) OR · Foreign athletes who meet the USA Fencing classification standard of an “A”; or “B”; as defined in the Athlete Handbook 2.2.5 *Note.. if a fencer meets the classification requirement at the qualifying competition and subsequently earns a higher classification, the fencer retains eligibility for that tournament ROC Points – Top 40% of the competitive field will earn ROC points. Please refer to the Athlete Handbook for more details on points. The ROC point standings are not used for seeding National level tournaments. The walk would be about 20 minutes. Taxis available in Hoboken (appx 4 minute ride to Cobra). Have the cab take Observer Highway West and turn left on Grove St. The Lackawanna Warehouse is on the right-hand side between 18th and 16th St. PARKING INFORMATION: To avoid possibility of your car being towed, note these parking instructions: Parking is available in lot directly across street and also the parking lot at the southwest corner of 18th/Grove Streets. Once the main parking lot is filled there are 3 other parking locations: 1. You can park nose into the cyclone fence on 16th Street between Grove St. and Marin Blvd. DO NOT park in front of the sliding gate however. 2. There is a parking lot at the corner of Grove Street and 18th St. 3. You can go up the ramp located on Marin Blvd between 18th and 16th street. DO NOT block access to the truck bays. Stay to the right. If you are parking here we suggest you drop off your fencer with a parent to check in. It's about a 10 minute walk down the ramp and around the block to the Lackawanna Warehouse. If you arrive at Cobra and are unable to find parking either in the lot directly across the street, nose in along the fence on 16th Street between Grove and Marin (excluding the sliding gate entrance which is marked with cones), or the parking lot on the corner of 18th Street and Grove St. you should: 1. Fencers are responsible for ensuring arrival at the strip with working equipment. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT • Uniforms (jacket, pants, knee-high socks, fencing glove): Standard fencing uniforms; cannot have any rips, tear, or holes. Warm-up pants or jeans are not allowed. Fencing glove must cover half of the forearm. • Plastrons (underarm protectors): Standard fencing plastron; required with every uniform • Chest Protector: Required for females • Masks: 12K punch test; sewn in bib. Conductive Bib in foil is required. Elastic strap at back of mask is required • Blades: Standard blade length of 30-35” permitted. Must have at least two working weapons and two body cords when reporting to the strip. • Weapon Handle: Any attachment to a weapon’s handle must fix the hand in one position such that the top of the thumb is no more than 2 cm from the inner surface of the guard. • Names on Uniforms: Not required. • Top 40% of the competitive field will earn ROC points • Ratings can be awarded. Fencers with equal classifications will be randomized within each classification. Only ratings and points standings listed on the USA Fencing website will be used (ratings on FRED at not official). It is the fencer's responsibility to ensure that USA Fencing has properly recorded any necessary changes or corrections prior to this date. FORMAT: • One preliminary round of pools (5-touch/3 minute bouts), then all fencers advance to direct elimination round (15 touch/9-minute bouts.). DE tableau shall be comprised according to the results of the preliminary pool round. During the 1-minute break, ONE PERSON designated by the fencer (team-mate, coach, or parent) may be on the strip with the fencer. • There is no fence-off for third place. • Medals awarded to Top 8. • Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee (BC) immediately. This includes club affiliation, division, classification, date of birth, gender, spelling of name, etc. Errors in posted pool results must be reported to the BC immediately (within 5 minutes). Once DE round starts and tableau is posted, the pool results are final and no adjustments will be made. Check all scores before leaving the strip. Fencer signature on pool sheet and DE slip implies accuracy. • Photography and filming is allowed, however NO flash photography is allowed near ongoing competitions. WITHDRAWAL DURING TOURNAMENT: • Withdrawal during pools: The pools must be fenced through the last bout. A fencer who withdraws, or who is excluded, is scratched from the pool, and his results are annulled as if he had not taken part. • Withdrawal during DE: When for whatever reason a fencer cannot fence or cannot complete his bout, his opponent is declared winner of that bout. A fencer who withdraws does not lose his place in the overall classification of the competition. SPECTATORS: Everybody taking part in or present at a fencing competition must remain orderly and must not disturb the smooth running of the competition. At no time is anyone allowed to criticize the Officials or their decisions, to insult them or to attempt to influence them in any way. Coaches and spectators are allowed to give advice to fencers, but in all situations, coaches and spectators must not disturb the order of the bout.
