The Amarillo Competitive Fencing Association is pleased to announce the 19th Annual Amarillo Open Fencing Tournament. We will have grounded strips in the main gym.

The Amarillo Competitive Fencing Association is pleased to announce the 19th Annual Amarillo Open Fencing Tournament. This tournament will be a USFA Sanctioned Event. All events will be held on plate metal grounded strips. We will have box lunches available for purchase. DATE Saturday October 20th and Sunday October 21st VENUE Amarillo College Carter Fitness Center Corner of 24th Street & Washington Amarillo, TX 79109 BOUT COMMITTEE AND FOC Bout Committee Contact Info: canmap97@yahoo.com (806) 418-1132 EVENTS SCHEDULED Fencing will commence for each event as soon as possible after close of registration. Please arrive sufficiently early so you will be ready to fence when registration closes. The venue will be open at approximately 8:00 a.m. both days. Saturday October 20th 9:00 AM - Senior Mixed Epee 11:00 AM - Y14 Mixed Epee 12:00 PM - DIV3(D & under) Senior Mixed Epee 2:00 PM - Junior Mixed Epee Sunday, October 21st 9:00 AM - Senior Mixed Team Epee 11:00 AM - Y14 Mixed Team Epee REGISTRATION is $25 EVENT FEES $20 per fencer for each Senior, Junior or Team Event $15 per fencer for each Youth Event TRAVELING INFORMATION If you are flying - Nonstop commercial service is available from Dallas Love Field, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Houston-Bush Intercontinental Airport, Denver International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport and Memphis International Airport. Amarillo is served by American and Southwest airlines. If you are driving - Amarillo is located on I-40 between Albuquerque and Oklahoma City, and on HWY 287 between Denver and Dallas/Fort Worth. Amarillo is an easy four-hour drive from either Albuquerque or Oklahoma City, a five-hour drive from Fort Worth, and a seven-hour drive from Denver or El Paso. Well over 50 hotels and many more restaurants within 5-10 minutes of the venue will accommodate any budget and need. USFA RULES All USFA rules will be enforced in the tournament. Please bring proof of USFA membership to compete. COMPETITION FORMAT Standard USFA pool format with 100 percent advancing to direct elimination with no repecharge. ARMORER The tournament will have an armorer to check fencing equipment before each competition and to assist with equipment problems during the tournament. Masks, gloves and body cords will be checked for all events. The armory will be opened for early equipment check on Friday night from 5:00PM - 5:45PM at the venue. SET YOUR CLOCKS For those coming from other time zones, Amarillo is in the Central Time Zone. Be sure to set your clocks accordingly. ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING FOOD IN THE VENUE: The Carter Fitness Center does not allow food and drink (other than water bottles) on the floor of the gym where the competition is being held. There will be an adjoining classroom where all food must be kept and consumed. We will have water, sports drinks and box lunches available for purchase.
