Michel Alaux Cup - Veteran ROC November 21st, 2010 Fencers Club, New York, NY The Michel Alaux Cup is a Regional Open Circuit event that welcomes veteran competitors from all over the country to the historic N.Y. Fencers Club for a full day of exciting action and top notch fencing. The tournament commemorates the world renowned French-American Fencing Master and author, Michel Alaux (1924-1974). In his day, Michel Alaux approached the sport of fencing as an art and a science. He taught fencing as an exciting combination of rapid analytical thinking and elegant movements. Michel Alaux bridged the worlds of classical and modern Olympic fencing and in 1956, accepted the position of head Fencing Master at the N.Y. Fencers’ Club - a position he occupied until his death in 1974. Now, nearly 60 years later the Fencers Club is proud to host the Michel Alaux Cup - ROC Veterans Epee Tournament as a tribute of one of the sport’s greatest masters. Arrive early to get your equipment checked! We will be running on a strict schedule so your promptness is appreciated. Fencers that wish to fence in two events on the same day must report to the strip when called or they may be scratched from the event. We will try to accommodate people as best we can, but we will not delay events if a fencer is still fencing in another event. All events will be fenced as a single round of pools, followed by straight direct-elimination, no fence-off for third. If an event exceeds 80 fencers, it may be necessary to do a cut after the pool round. This will be announced after the registration deadline, once the number of attendees is known. Prizes will be awarded to the top 8 finishers. The top 10% of the veterans competing will qualify for Summer Nationals. We are giving out a prizes to the top 8 finishers. ---------- Registration Information ---------- Registration: - $50 registration fee - $35 per veteran event $35 if you pre-register through askfred, $45 at the door. Everyone will pay at the venue, please bring exact change! You will be turned away if you arrive after registration closes. Please see schedule for competition times. Bring your USFA membership card! Registration fees are non-refundable. For refunds of event fees, contact info@fencersclub.com ---------- Tournament Rules ---------- All fencers must be current competitive members of the USFA, their national federation (CFF), or maintain a current FIE license. You may join or renew your USFA membership at the door. Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. USFA rules require that all participants are born in 1970 or earlier. ---------- Equipment Check ---------- Please arrive early to allow time for equipment checks.
