Nazlymov Fencing Foundation invited Michael Aufrichtig, Columbia University's Head Fencing Coach, to host a 3-hour training session for DC area High School fencers. During Michael's 10-year tenure, Columbia Fencing won 2015, 2016, and 2019 NCAA Championships. The men's team won Ivy Championships 6 times and the women's team became Ivy League Champions 5 times. Coach Aufrichtig was the recipient of the 2016 USA Fencing Coaches Association Varsity Coach of the Year Award. The program is specifically designed to have an in-depth Fencing in College conversation (from understanding the admissions process to the life of the Ivy League student-athlete). As we expect to still be under COVID procedures, Zoom access will be made available for the parents. Coach Aufrichtig will run a training session sharing his approach to practice and competition, with focus on conditioning and mental preparation in order to perform when it matters. 1:30 pm - Doors open 1:45 pm - Fencing in college 2:30 pm - Training Session 4:30 pm - Closing remarks Fee $75 Registration is limited to 20 participants. The clinic is subject to DC and NCAA regulations. If any changes force us to cancel, pre-registrants will be notified. Given all the uncertainty, no fee will be collected till the day of the clinic. Coach Aufrichtig will be assisted by the NFF coaching staff. We will share info with the registered fencers on our safety procedure and more detailed training agenda. Open to any and all.
