OUR INSTRUCTORS
Tuesday: 12/29 FOIL. Jerry Heilpern
Jerry studied under Kimmel King former member of the American Olympic Epee team. In college he was a starting fencer for Wayne State Universitys five time NCAA championship team under Maestro Gil Pezza (former member of the Italian Olympic Epee team and President of the United States Fencing Coaches Association), as well as his personal coach Maestro Istvan Danosi (Hungarian fencing master and Hungarian national team coach). During this time Jerry was ranked in the top 20 foil fencers in the United States Fencing Association and top ten in the NCAA. Jerry is a member of the United States Fencing Coaches Association and pursuing certification as a Prevot de Foil & Epee.
Wednesday: 12/30 EPEE. John Terris
John is a Prevot de Foil & Épée with the United States Fencing Coaches Association/Academie Arms International, Moniteur of sabre, and Certified Level 2 Épée coach through the USFA Coaches College at the United States Olympic Training Facility in Colorado Springs, CO. He has coached students in local, regional, national, international events, and is currently studying to earn his Maitre dArmes certification as a Fencing Master. John is an adjunct faculty member at Kennesaw State University teaching beginning fencing and has coached fencing teams at Emory University, Georgia Tech, Hollins University,and Kennesaw State University. Former head coach of North Atlanta Fencing Center and Lassiter High School Fencing Club. John is currently the head coach of Lanier High School and North Gwinnett High School.
SPECIAL GUEST EPEE COACH. IMasters Fencing Academy, Ahmed Alaa Fayez
Ahmed is the head epee coach at iMasters Fencing Academy. A former Egyptian National Epee Coach, his team earned 2nd in the FIE official World Ranking. His students have earned gold, silver, and bronze in several African Continental as well as Junior World Cup competitions and his local students consistently place in the top eight if not higher of local and regional events. Ahmed has studied under the supervision of coaches such as Maitre Zedaro of Romania, and as an Egyptian national team member has fenced in numerous international and world-class events.
Thursday: 12/31 SABRE Allen Schneider
Allen started fencing in 2005 with Olympic coach Arkady Burdan. At age 15, just after over a year of fencing, he quickly obtain a "B" rating and was able to attend a cadet world cup in Poland. Allen would later go on to obtain his "A" rating in 2008 and consistently being top 16 on the national points list for cadet and later in junior. Allen would later earn top 24 in the country in senior rankings. Allen began his coaching career in 2009 where he started as the head coach of the Georgia Tech "Yellow Jacket" fencing club. Since then, he has been helping spreading the joy of fencing by establishing the Athens Fencing Club in Athens, GA.
