GRAFA Foil and Epee Camp with GRAFA Coaches Mikhail & Arkadiy Sarkisov & Coach Joseph Williams

This is the third of a series of four quarterly camps.

This camp focuses on building "Mental Resilience" in our students in sports and their everyday lives. The instruction and exercises taught in this camp are meant to help students feel more prepared to tackle the challenges of practices, camps, competitions, academic studies, and more. The skills they will learn are applicable throughout life, helping them thrive in all their endeavors.

The training and exercises are tailored to the fencers' age, for students as young as 7-10 years old and through high school, and aim toward developing focus and multitasking abilities applicable during the fencing training and bouts.

We are currently talking to several coaches who would be able to have an online appearance during the camp and share their knowledge on the subject.

Maestros Mikhail and Arka Sarkisov, the head coaches of GRAFA, hold a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Azerbaijan University of Physical Education and a Masters degree in Fencing. They were Gold Medalists at the Soviet Union Championship in 1985, medalists at the USSR Nationals from 1986-1989, and finalists at the World Cup and Student World Game competitions. During the 1988-1989 season, Maestro Mikhail competed for the Ukrainian National men's foil team.

In 2005, Maestro Mikhail Sarkisov was recognized by the US Olympic Committee as Developmental Coach of the Year.

During the 2006-2009 season, both Maestros coached the US Cadets and Juniors Women Foil traveling team, helping them to earn numerous medals at the European Cadets Circuit and Junior World Cups.

Maestros trained 8 USA National Champions in different age groups and Divisions, including Div1 top 8 results.

Several Maestro's students successfully fenced on NCAA Championships, earning First Team All-American, Honor, and All-American Recognition, competing for universities such as Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Temple, NYU, Cornell, Boston College, Brandeis, and UNC.

Coach Mikhail and Arka produced eight National Champions in various age categories and Divisions.
