Fencers must live in California and attend high school in California to participate. **This event is a recognized high school event by USFA. You will be eligible to earn USA Fencing classifications (ratings). No more than 2 events per person and must be a current High School student (9th to 12 grade). Please bring school ID and proof of USFA membership (Competitive or Access Level). If your school does not issue a school ID, please bring proof of school enrollment, i.e. registration, letter from school stating grade, etc. Each High School is restricted to the top 4 fencers per event. Proof of Grade (make sure to list your school as the primary club for this tournament) Proof of USFA Competitive or Access Membership (copy of card showing expiration date) Payment or Proof or Payment (See below for payment options) When REGISTERING, please list your SCHOOL NAME as your PRIMARY CLUB on ASKFRED for this tournament. (Under USFA membership, you can still keep your Fencing Club as your Primary Club) To purchase USFA Competitive or Access Membership on-line, please use link below: https://www.usafencing.org/membership TOURNAMENT FEES: Non-league School Fencer: $30.00 Registration and $50.00 per event (Total 80.00 for one event, Total 130.00 for 2 events) League School Fencer: $10.00 per event Payment by check or cash can be made at the tournament. Please bring exact change when paying by cash. THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATION and NO SIGN UPS ON THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT. If you are not enrolled in below mentioned league schools, you are considered a non-league school fencer. LEAGUE SCHOOLS Brentwood School Chaminade College Prep Harvard-Westlake School Kern County Charter Le Lycee Francais Oakwood School Central High #9 Vistamar Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Immaculate Heart International School of Los Angeles - Burbank Campus Format: There will be one round of pools with 100% advancing to direct elimination in all individual competitions. The direct elimination bouts will be fifteen touch bouts, with the appropriate breaks determined by which weapon is being fenced. Equipment: A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers. Socks must cover all the leg not covered by the knickers. Women's equipment must include breast protectors made of metal or rigid material inside the jacket. The appropriate glove, lame and mask for the weapon being fenced are required. Please wear shoes with non-marking or white soles to all competitions. All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask. All Saber fencers must us a USFA Fencing approved 800N glove. Foil Fencers: USFA Foil "Padded" chest guards will be enforced and checked. Material must have the SEMI technical mark at the center of the upper edge, per USA Fencing Rules of Competition, section m.25.4(c) Sabre: All sabre fencers must use a USA Fencing approved 800N glove. Leon Paul brand MASK owners: If you have the Leon Paul "X-Change" mask with the plastic disk in back, please note that a secondary neck strap is now REQUIRED for all USA Fencing domestic events. The secondary strap requirement will be enforced and non-conforming equipment will be disallowed. (Note: the L.P. X-Change mask model with the more traditional tongue may be worn without the secondary strap.) Please consult your coach or the armorer with any questions. INSPECTIONS: Masks and gloves will be inspected by the armorer. Weapons will be tested on the strip. You will not be allowed to fence with weapons that do not conform to USFA standards. By entering this tournament, we will be following the codes of conduct set by USA Fencing. SOCIAL DISTANCING: We encourage social distancing while in the venue. AVOID HANDSHAKES: Athletes should salute at the conclusion of a bout, and refrain from shaking hands with each other, the referee and coaches. STAYING HOME WHEN APPROPRIATE: If you are feeling unwell, please stay home. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are showing COVID-19 symptoms. If you have had a close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19.
