5th Annual Yung Cup (rescheduled b/c of Covid:-)

The 5th Annual Yung Cup: Veteran Women and Men's Sabre Tournament: June 12th, 2022 Last event this was a A2 rated event. Like many Tri-State Vet Cup events, the rating and range of fencing is equivalent to a NAC event. This event also earns points toward the Tri-State Vet Cup Sign up! Events Scheduled: Women Vet Combined: 1pm Men/Mixed Vet Combined: 3pm Doors open at noon. Medals Awarded to: Top 4 men and women; first place for each gender receives a bottle of wine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Payment: Registration: $60 Preregistration through AskFred is required. Due to Covid concerns Dinner has been canceled. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COVID Protocols: All fencers must be vaccinated up-to-date (i.e., full initial vaccine doses plus boosters as available) and be prepared to show proof, and must be free of Covid symptoms prior to the event. Refunds will be issued if a fencer becomes ill before the event, however, refunds will not be issued for fencers who sign up but are not vaccinated up-to-date. As of the date of this posting (2/4/2022), masks are required at all times in the fencing hall, including during bouting, warm-up, etc.. There are no exceptions to the vaccination policy. Guests are not permitted, only fencers are permitted on site. Event info: Event is officially sanctioned by the South Jersey Division of USFA. 2021-2022 USFA Competitive membership is required. Please bring membership card or printed out proof from your profile on USFencing Railstation. Must wear regulation attire, including plastron, and have at least 1 extra weapon, body & mask cord. Must age-qualify under current USFA age category: https://www.usafencing.org/age-classification-eligibility ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wang Yung Bio: Wang Yung has been fencing for over fifty years and has been coaching for over 20. He earned his Maitre de Sabre certification in 2009 from the US Fencing Coaches Association. His certification is recognized by the 17 country members of the Acadamie d'Armes Internationale, the international fencing coaches organization. Maitre Yung has trained fencers domestic and foreign. His fencers competed in cadet, junior, senior and veteran levels in domestic and international tournaments including the Olympics. Wang Yung, the fencer, has been on 15 US Veteran World Teams and has won 7 Veteran World Championships medals including individual and team golds. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2021-2022 TRI-STATE VETERANS SABER CUP This is one of the events in the 7th Annual Tri-State Veterans Saber Cup! The last season with a complete Cup (2018-2019) produced two A2-rated Vet MS events, 6 A/B ratings, 4 C/D/E ratings and some of the largest Vet Saber events in the country outside of the NACs. Competitors regularly attend from up and down the East Coast and are always welcome. The Cup was interrupted during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons by COVID-19 and we are planning to host a complete Cup series this season. The organizers understand the concerns that many fencers will have regarding health and safety protocols. For this reason, the organizers have communicated an expectation to each club hosting an event that they will meet or exceed the standard set for NACs (masking at all times and proof of vaccination) in addition to complying with all local laws. While the organizers will attempt to provide updates via social media, given the speed with which policies can change, the most definitive information regarding health and safety protocols will always be found by calling the club hosting the event. HOW WILL THE CUP WINNER DETERMINED? In addition to individual event awards, the Top 3 MS and the Top 3 WS fencers in the 2021-2022 Cup Standings at the end of the season will be recognized. Awards will be given after the season's final event. 2021-2022 Cup Standings will be determined as follows: 1. Each fencer will get credit for points earned at up to three 2021-2022 Cup events (assuming the currently anticipated five events; if a sixth event is added, points can be earned at up to four events) 2. For each 2021-2022 Cup event, fencers will receive points based on their finish and letter ratings of other participants who finish below them: a. Each fencer will be assigned a value based on their rating (A=7, B=6, C=5, D=4, E=3, U=2) b. Fencers will earn points equal to the sum of the point values of all fencers who finish below them, plus 2 points c. In the case of Vet Mixed Events, MS will earn points for all MS finishers below them; WS will earn points for all fencers (MS or WS) below them 3.
