"It's just that masks are so very comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future" -Dread Pirate Roberts, in the Princess Bride Covid safety measures: -Youth and Unrated events are capped at 14 competitors. Open event is capped at 28. -Event will take place outdoors, on the tennis courts in the Harold Curtis Rec Park in East Middlebury -All participants will wear face masks when not safely distanced from other households, including during all actual fencing bouts. If you are not willing to fence with a face covering securely over your mouth and nose, please do not sign up for this. Even fully vaccinated competitors must wear masks, to protect our youngest fencers, who may not yet have had the chance to get the vaccine. Entry fee is $15 for a single event or $20 for two, payable at the event (so we don't have to return money if it is rained out). Unrated fencers are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Open event. Rain date is Sunday June 13 Youth (Y10Y12) event is restricted to kids born 2008 or later. Unrated and Open events are restricted to those born 2007 or earlier. You will receive more information via email from AskFRED as the tournament approaches, including weather updates. As per US Fencing policy, ratings can not be awarded for outdoor tournaments. We expect all competitors to hold at least a noncompetitive membership in US Fencing (however, full competitive membership is not enforced for this). You will be asked to sign a waiver agreeing to participate entirely at your own risk, including risk of injury from fencing on outdoor (concrete) surfaces, as well as risk of contracting covid-19. The Harold Curtis rec park may not appear on Google Maps. It is located behind the Sara Partridge Library, 431 East Main St, East Middlebury, VT. Best parking option is the field behind the library.
