2020-2021 SoCal Junior Olympic/Summer National Qualifier Saturday, May 15, 2021 In full compliance with all Federal, State and Local health regulations, this year's combined Junior Olympic/Summer National Qualifier will be held outdoors on the tennis courts at Calabasas High School, 22855 West Mulholland Hwy, Calabasas CA 91302. Entry fee: $35 per event. (Will be collected a the tournament. Cash or Check only. Please bring exact change.) Close of registration: Monday, May 3, 2021 No registrations will be taken at the door. This tournament is open to members of the SoCal Division who are US citizens or permanent residents and meet the following eligibility requirements: JUNIOR: 2001-2007 or cadet points CADET: 2004-2007 or Y14 points DV2: Born 2007 or earlier, and a rating of C, D, E or U DV3: Born 2007 or earlier, and a rating of D, E or U All attendees will be asked to wear a facial mask and maintain social distancing. If you are feeling sick on the day of the tournament, please do not come. You will be issued a refund. Full equipment control will be in effect. Fencers will be required to submit masks, gloves, lames, and body cords for inspection. Any event with 3 or fewer entries will be canceled and entry fees refunded. All fencers in such events are automatically qualified. Any CADET fencer who qualifies for the Junior Olympics in a JUNIOR event will auto-qualify for the CADET event in that weapon. Cadet fencers who qualify this way and choose to withdraw from the cadet qualifying event will be issued a refund of their cadet entry fees. Be prepared for heat (bring plenty of water) and sun. Some fencers have found it useful to put opaque tape on their masks when fencing outdoors to block the sun from their eyes. To qualify for Summer Nationals, please check below link. https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1151513-national-championships-qualification-paths-and-summer-tournament-schedule- More Information: Division qualifiers are restricted to members of the division (This is for the Southern California Division) for the following events: Div II, Div III and Y14 (USA Fencing National Championships) and Cadet and Junior (JOs). Veteran fencers can qualify for USA Fencing National Championships via Division II or Division III division qualifiers. Division qualifying tournaments cannot be mixed gender competitions. Fencers who have earned national points are the only athletes who will be skipped over. Athletes who have already qualified via a regional path will not be skipped over at any division qualifier. Fencers must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents. Any fencer who is a U.S. citizen who has also represented another country in the last three years, in any FIE and/or Union International de Pentathlon Monderne (UIPM) event, and who has not yet been granted permission to represent the USA by USA Fencing and the FIE, is not eligible for any USA Fencing National Championship competition, individual or team, including division qualifying competitions. A foreign fencer who is in the United States on a visa is NOT eligible to fence in any National Championships, individual or team, or associated division qualifying competitions.
