Come join us for the California State Fencing Champs! No more than 2 events per person, and you must be a current high school student. Please bring school ID and proof of USFA membership.

The SoCal Scholastic Fencing League is proud to host its Annual California State High School Fencing Championships. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the schedule for this season has been shortened. This event date may also change due to recommendations/restrictions from the United States Fencing Association and from state/local government regulations. Pre-registration will not be open until APRIL 2021. For up to date information, please check our website at https://www.schsfence.org/ Come join us for the California State High School Fencing Championships. Fencers must live in California and attend high school in California to participate. **This event is a recognized high school event by USFA. You will be eligible to earn USA Fencing classifications (ratings). No more than 2 events per person and must be a current High School student (9th to 12 grade). Must bring Proof of USFA competitive membership (Card showing expiration date) and proof of grade (School ID) upon check in. No exceptions. If your school does not issue a school ID, please bring proof of school enrollment, i.e. registration, letter from school stating grade, etc. Each High School is restricted to sending the top 4 fencers per event. This means only 4 (best) fencers from each high school can compete in the specific weapon category. Location: TO BE ANNOUNCED. DATE OF THIS EVENT MAY ALSO CHANGE. Events Scheduled: 9:00AM Men's High School Epee 9:30AM Women's High School Saber 10:00AM Women's High School Foil 11:30AM Women's High School Epee 12:30PM Men's High School Foil 1:30PM Men's High School Saber Awards will be given based on individual placement and overall school placement. Tournament Fees: Non-League School Fencer: $30.00 Registration and $50.00 per event (Total 80.00 if fencing one event) League School Fencer: $10.00 Payment can be paid at check in. (Cash or check) Pre-Payment: Paying by PayPal - homfencing@hotmail.com Paying by VENMO - Sam-Signorelli-fencer **Please make sure to note fencers name, date of tournament, and which event. If you are not enrolled in below mentioned league schools, you are considered a non-league school fencer. League Schools are: Brentwood School Chaminade Middle School And High School Harvard Westlake Middle School and High School Lakeview Middle School (Victorville) Le Lycee Francais Central LA #9 (VAPA) Oakwood High School Victor Valley High School Vistamar High School Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Format: There will be one round of pools with 100% advancing to direct elimination in all individual competitions. The direct elimination bouts will be fifteen touch bouts, with the appropriate breaks determined by which weapon is being fenced. Equipment: A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers. Socks must cover all the leg not covered by the knickers. Women's equipment must include breast protectors made of metal or rigid material inside the jacket. The appropriate glove, lame and mask for the weapon being fenced are required. Please wear shoes with "non-marking" or white soles to all competitions. All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask, and all saber fencers must use a USFA Fencing approved 800N glove. Foil Fencers: USFA Foil "Padded" chest guards will be enforced. Material must have the SEMI technical mark at the center of the upper edge, per USA Fencing Rules of Competition, section m.25.4(c) **Facial Masks, with more that 2 layers, must be worn at all times during the tournament and while fencing. **There will be more information on safety procedures and social distancing procedures. Inspections: Masks and gloves will be inspected by the armorer. Weapons will be tested on the strip. You will not be allowed to fence with weapons that do not conform to USFA standards.
