Open Mixed Saber Tournament in Bakersfield

** OPEN MIXED SABRE TOURNAMENT ** PLEASE NOTE: As of 3-13-2020, the Southern California Division has given permission to continue to organize this tournament, with the understanding that sanctioning may be cancelled on short notice, should the Division believe it to be advisable for the health and safety of its members. ****************************************************** The Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation invites you to join us in Bakersfield, CA, for a SoCal Division sanctioned Senior Mixed Sabre Tournament, for fencers of age 13+ (Birth year 2006 or earlier) Event Fee: $15 Events Scheduled: Open Mixed Sabre 10:00 a.m. Preregistration opens on 2/23/2020. Preregistration closes on 3/28/2020. LOCATION: Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation (KAFF) Fencing Studio, Located upstairs of The Woman’s Club of Bakersfield 2030 18th Street, 2nd Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301 VENUE: KAFF is located in a historic building in downtown Bakersfield and there is plenty of free street parking. The fencing venue is up a flight of external stairs and there is no elevator in the building. Spectator seating is limited. An ample equipment room is available for fencing bags. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. REGISTRATION: Event Fee is $15, payable at the door by cash or check, or in advance by credit card on AskFred.net. For planning purposes, we request that you please pre-register on AskFred.net before March 26, 2020. At-the-door registrations will also be available. Current USA Fencing competitive membership is required, and fencers must be born in 2006 or earlier to compete. CHECK-IN: Check-in will be open for one hour before the stated time of the event. SCHEDULE: Senior Mixed Sabre Close of Check-in: 10:00 a.m. FORMAT: This will be a self-referee’d tournament. There will be one round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place. Medals will be awarded to top 4 finishers. EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required: jacket, underarm protector, fencing knickers, socks covering legs below the knickers, 800N saber glove, sabre mask with use of mask cord. Chest protectors are required for women. FOOD: Our “Snack Shack” will offer coffee, water, Gatorade, light breakfast items, snacks.
