BlackStack BackStab 2020

The BlackStack BackStab is a three-weapon FUNdraising randomized team tournament for MN Division Fencing! It is held at BlackStack Brewery in St. Paul, MN and your first beer is included with each registration! Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams in each event. Must be 21+ to compete! Proceeds from this event will help provide nationally rated referees for the Minnesota Open in May and support the division in their ongoing efforts to elevate fencing in MN and the Midwest. Events Scheduled: 11:30am - 21 & Over Mixed Randomized Team Foil 2:00pm - 21 & Over Mixed Randomized Team Epee 4:00pm - 21 & Over Mixed Randomized Team Saber Registration: First event: $40 (BEER and complimentary MN Div swag included in the price!) Additional events: $10 Registration must be pre-paid through the division website at: http://mndivfencing.org/product-category/blackstack-registration/ Once payment is received, we will approve you as registered on askFRED. Registration is non-refundable but is transferable. If paying for more than one person or for someone else, please leave a note in the order notes so we can approve registrations on askFRED. FENCERS: Each event is capped at 15 due to limited space and all fencers must be 21 years old. What is a randomized team event? We will be assigning random teams day-of and fencing either direct elimination bracket and just 45 touch relays or possibly round robin. We decide day-of based on attendance, etc.! You may enter as many events as you like. FREE BEER: Each entrant will receive one 16 oz beer with paid registration. You will have to wait until you are eliminated from all events before you can begin to partake in the festivities. Additional BEER TOKENS can be purchased from Bout Committee and a portion will go to MN Div Fencing. GUESTS: Non-fencing guests can buy BUY A TOKEN from Bout Committee to then purchase the beer of their choice. A portion of those beer sales will go to MN Div Fencing! BlackStack is open to the public all day, so it's a chance to show off our skills to an outside audience! Those under 21 are welcome to spectate as well, but are not allowed to partake in the beer. This is a great event to invite co-workers, family etc. There are actual chairs and tables and we will make some attempt to explain how fencing works! There is also water, La Croix, coffee, and pop available. PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams! VENUE: BlackStack Brewery is in a shared warehouse space with several other businesses. In their space, the bar runs through the center with brewing behind and lots of seating in front. We will have one end of the brewery with 2-3 strips and Bout Committee. Fun fact: the head brewer is a fencer! UNSANCTIONED: Due to the age restrictions, this will not be a sanctioned US Fencing event and no letter classifications will be awarded.
