Rain City Fencing Center presents our spring Regional Junior/Cadet Circuit. RJCCs are an important qualifying path for Junior Olympics and the July Challenge.

RJCCs are regional point events for Cadet and Junior fencers. Registration is through the USA Fencing membership platform here: https://member.usafencing.org/details/tournaments/3919 NOTE: Because this event is after the entry deadline for the 2020 Junior Olympics, points earned at this RJCC count for qualification towards the 2020 July Challenge and the 2021 Junior Olympics. Fencers born in 2007 are eligible to fence this RJCC; email us for help with registration. Medals will be awarded to the top 8 finishers in each event. ---------- Points Information ---------- Regional points are awarded to all competitors in each event, with first place earning 100 points and others receiving proportionally fewer based on the size of the event. For Junior Olympics, fencers who have earned at least 110 points are qualified. Points earned at this event count towards qualification for the 2020 Junior Olympics. For the July Challenge, fencers who have earned at least 65 points are qualified. This event is in Region 1, which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Fencers from outside Region 1 are welcome to fence, but only Region 1 fencers will earn regional points. ---------- Registration Information ---------- Registration is through the USA Fencing membership platform here: https://member.usafencing.org/details/tournaments/3919 Entry fees will vary depending on when you make your payment. On or before January 17, 2020: $20 registration fee $30 per event After January 17, 2020 triple fees will apply: $60 registration fee $90 per event Note that USA Fencing adds a $5 Admin Fee to your registration. This fee is mandated by USA Fencing and is not part of the entry fees we receive. All registrations and payments must be made through the USA Fencing site. Registration and admin fees are non-refundable. To request a refund of event fees, send us an email. Refund requests must be received by Sunday, February 2nd. Note that due to light rail construction in our area, access to RCFC is only from the south. See the map on our website for more details. ---------- Tournament Rules ---------- All fencers must be current competitive members of the USA Fencing. You may join or renew your membership while registering online. Foreign fencers must be current members of their nation's fencing federation AND register for a USA Fencing "Foreign Fencer" membership. Full regulation uniform according to USA Fencing rules is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed. Names are NOT required on fencer uniforms. For foil, masks with electric bibs are required for all events. For epee, a conductive surface can ground out the opponent's weapon. Epee fencers may NOT wear electric foil or saber masks. Two-weapon fencers must have two masks, or a mask with an exchangeable bib. In all three weapons, hard plastic chest protectors are required for women and optional for men. In foil, fencers who wear a chest protector must have padding with an approved FIE mark. RCFC expects to have a limited quantity of the new chest protectors available for purchase. ---------- Age Eligibility ---------- Since this RJCC is after the entry deadline for Junior Olympics, age eligibility includes the 2019-2020 season. Eligibility is based on birth year, regardless of the specific day/month: Cadet: Born in 2003 through 2007 Junior: Born in 2000 through 2007 Fencers with Youth-14 National points are eligible to fence in Cadet events. Fencers with Cadet National points are eligible to fence in Junior events. If your USA Fencing membership card does not indicate "DOB: VERIFIED", please bring a form of government-issued ID or photocopy of a birth certificate for age verification. Fencers aging out of their age group (2003 for Cadet, 2000 for Junior) can fence and earn classifications but will not earn points. ---------- Event Seeding ---------- Fencers' classifications and club and division affiliations will be validated against the USA Fencing membership database as of January 31st. It is the fencer's responsibility to ensure that USA Fencing has properly recorded any necessary changes or corrections prior to that date. No classification or affiliation changes will be made at the event. Per USA Fencing guidelines, fencers will be seeded by National Rolling Points Standings as of Monday, January 27th (regardless of classification), then by classification letter, and finally by classification year within their letter. ---------- Equipment Check ---------- Please arrive early to allow time for equipment checks. We will be checking masks, lames, body cords, gloves, and foil/saber mask cords. Important note for saber fencers: All saber fencers must use 800N gloves. ---------- Nearby Hotels ---------- For fencers visiting from outside the Seattle area, the following hotels are located near the venue.
