Due to the current situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States, the SE United States High School Championship that was scheduled to take place in Atlanta from April 25-26 will be postponed. The organizers understand that this was a competition opportunity that fencers and their families were looking forward to; however, this is an extraordinary situation and our top priority remains the health and well-being of all of our members, athletes, tournament staff and participants. All participants may receive refunds of both event and registration fees for the tournament. Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days following the original tournament date. The organizers are looking into the possibility of rescheduling the event to a later date in the year This tournament is laying the foundation for future Regional High School Championships with the approval of the National Office. High school epee, foil & saber fencers in AL, DC, DE, FL, GA, MD, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA, WV who meet the Requirements To Compete listed below are strongly encouraged to fence in order to promote and develop strong high school regional tournaments. USA Fencing ratings will be awarded REQUIREMENTS TO COMPETE: 1.Must be a current, full-time high school student 2.Have a current USA Fencing competitive membership 3.Have represented their high school in a recognized high school fencing league OR listed their high school club on their USA fencing membership profile OR have a minimum of two (2) fencers representing their high school in this tournament *A high school connection is necessary so that we are not simply offering a junior/cadet age event* Interested in starting a fencing club at your high school? We are happy to provide assistance, recommendations and/or advice to anyone in Region 6 wishing to start a fencing club in their high school or wishing to bring high schools together to form a League in their area. Contact regionalhsfencing@gmail.com AIRPORT: Hartsfield-Jackson International airport Approximately 15 miles from the venue TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN PROCEDURES: Fencers must show proof they are COMPETITIVE members of USA Fencing. Fencers must check-in with their membership card Athletes without proof of membership must fill out all appropriate forms online and pay online AWARDS: Individual awards will be given to the top 8 finishers in each event School awards will be given to the school with the best cumulative result from the top four (4) fencers representing their school in each individual weapon event EVENTS: Registration for ALL events opens 1 hour prior to close of check-in Events Scheduled: U19 & Below Women's Epee U19 & Below Women's Foil U19 & Below Women's Saber U19 & Below Men's Epee U19 & Below Men's Foil U19 & Below Men's Saber FEES: Registration fee: $20 Event fee: $20 Registration is not complete until payment is made on FRED Registration fee is not refundable. Last day to request refund of event fees is April 17, 2020. Refunds will be processed within 3 weeks after the tournament. Refund request should be sent to: bbhk@mindspring.com EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES: Standard fencing uniforms; cannot have any rips, tears, or holes. Warm-up pants are not allowed. Fencing glove must cover half of the forearm. Names on uniforms are not required. Standard fencing plastron; required with every uniform; women must wear chest protector. Mask: 12K punch test. Any attachment to a weapon's handle must fix the hand in one position such that the top of the thumb is no more than 2 cm from the inner surface of the guard. Epee wiring must meet the current standards in effect as of August 1, 2013. Current national rolling point standings according to age group and weapon. 2. Letter ranking with year classification 3. Athletes with neither of the above are seeded on a random basis after the athletes who are seeded by the preceding factors. TOURNAMENT FORMAT All events will be one round of pools with 100% promotion to direct eliminations tableau. No fence off for 3rd place for individual events. Preregistration opens on 08/04/2019. Preregistration closes on 04/10/2020.
