This event is the qualifier for the Div2, Div3 and Y-14 events at U.S. Summer Nationals. This tournament is open ONLY to members of the South Texas Division. Texas Fencing Academy will be the co-host of this tournament. Preregistration opens on 02/1/2019 Preregistration closes on 04/14/2019 Fees: $30 registration + first event, + $10 each additional event. Checks and cash only, please. Schedule Venue opens at 8:00 a.m. The annual meeting is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, 14 April. Some of the 9 a.m. events may start a bit later than anticipated. 9:00 a.m.-------Close of Registration for ALL Youth 14 events 10:30 a.m--------Close of Registration for ALL combined Div2 Div3 events. Events to be contested: Youth--14 Women's Foil, Epee, Sabre Youth--14 Men's Foil, Epee, Sabre Combined Div2 Div3 Women's Foil, Epee, Sabre Combined Div2 Div3 Men's Foil, Epee, Sabre Events with the MOST entries will be fenced first (men/women concurrently); those with lesser entries will follow in succession. All competitors must submit a copy of the South Texas Division waiver of liability and consent to treat form. Copies will be available at the venue. You can also download and print your own. USFA/US Fencing Membership: Current competitive membership of the USFA required. Format Pools, 100% to Direct Elimination For any event with three or fewer eligible and properly prepared entrants, the organizers reserve the right to declare all entrants tied for first place, without any bouts being fenced. FOR ALL EVENTS Athletes are permitted to fence in their Division qualifying competitions only IF: 1) The athlete is a US Citizen OR Permanent Resident and a current competitive/collegiate competitive member of USA Fencing AND 2) The athlete meets the various qualifying event criteria OR 3) The athlete's birth year falls in that age bracket OR 4) The athlete is on the national rolling point standings in the next younger age bracket For events where 25% (rounding up) qualify in the divisional qualifying event, for small numbers of competitors, the number qualifying is a larger fraction. for 1 competitor: 1 qualifies for 2 competitors: 2 qualify for 3-8 competitors: 3 qualify for 9 or more: 25% (rounding up) qualify Youth 14 National Championships A. Eligibility (age, representation, classification) Subject to the listed exceptions, fencers must meet the birth years in Table 2.5.1 and be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident representing the United States. There are no classification requirements. B. Qualification When determining qualifications top 16 on National Rolling Points Standings, ONLY foreign fencers are skipped. C. Qualifying Path - Be on the Youth 14 National Point Standings at the regular entry fee deadline OR - Be in the top 16 of the Y12 National Point Standings at the regular entry fee deadline OR - Earn at least 150 Y14 Regional Points during the current season (Total points = an athletes top 3 point results) OR - Place in the top 25% (round up) of the fencers divisions Y14 National Championship qualifying competition Combined Div2 and Div3 South Texas Division holds only one competition to determine qualifiers for both Division II and Division III. Results will be separated for the purposes of qualification. No points are awarded. A. Eligibility (age, classification, qualification path) Fencers must be at least 13 years old on 1 January in the year of the competition or on the Junior national rolling point standings (NRPS). Fencers must have a classification in the weapon of C, D, E or U at the time of the qualifying competition AND be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. B. Qualification Fencers must meet eligibility requirements AND: - Place in the top 25% of the current seasons division qualifying competition OR - Be on the current seasons Div IA ROC Regional Point Standings OR - Be on the Div II ROC Regional Point Standings OR - Place in the top 40% of any current season Div II or Div IA NAC, if held Division III (Div III) This event is part of the USA Fencing National Championships, held each summer. No points are awarded. A. Eligibility (age, classification, qualification path) Fencers must be at least 13 years old on 1 January in the year of the competition or on the Junior national rolling point standings (NRPS). Fencers must have a classification of D, E, or U at the time of the qualifying competition AND be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. B. Qualification Fencers must meet eligibility requirements AND: - Place in the top 25% (round up) of the total number of D, E, or U fencers competing in the current season divisions Division II Qualifying competition (when Division II and Division III qualifying competition held together) OR - If separate Division III qualifying competition held by division, then top 25% of the field will qualify for Division III National Championships OR - Be on the Division IA or Division II Regional Open Circuit point standings, if classification eligible, at the regular fee entry deadline for these Championships OR - Place in the top 40% at Div III, Div II or Div1A NAC of the current season, if held - Qualified for Division II, if classification eligible Veteran (V40, V50, V60, V70+) V40, V50, V60 and V70 events are held at the USA Fencing National Championships; there is no Championship event for Vet Open or Vet Team. Veteran National Championships is the last tournament for selection for the World Veteran Championships at which national points are awarded. A. Eligibility (age, classification, qualifying path) Age eligibility for the separate age categories (V50, V60, and V70) is governed by the FIE rules for the Veteran World Championships. For each Veteran age group fencers must meet the birth years specified in Table 2.5.1. Athletes that have represented another country in the last 3 years at FIE level competitions (Senior/Junior) are not eligible to compete in a National Championship. B. Qualification Must meet eligibility requirements above AND - Compete in the current seasons division qualifying competition for Division II and/or Division III Championships OR - Compete in any Regional Open Circuit event during the current season OR - Compete in any NAC during the current season OR - Be on the Veteran Age Group national rolling point standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR - Be on the Veteran Combine regional point standings at the regular fee entry deadline ANNUAL DIVISION MEETING WILL BE AT 8:30.
