This qualification tournament is for NJ Division fencers ONLY who wish to qualify for the Junior Olympics in the Under-20 & Under-17 age groups. Fencers must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States and current competitive members of USA Fencing. Qualification: The top 25% of the competitors in each event qualify for the Junior Olympics. A minimum of 3 competitors in each event qualify. Junior (U20) age group: Fencers must be born in 1999 through 2005. A fencer born after 2005 can fence in Junior(U20) Championships qualifying round, if the fencer is on the National Cadet(U17) point standings at the time of the entry deadline for that tournament. Cadet (U17) age group: Fencers must be born in 2002 through 2005. A fencer born after 2005 can fence in the Cadet(Under-17) Junior Olympic Championships qualifying round, IF the fencer is on the National Youth 14 point standings at the time of the entry deadline for that tournament. Penalty entry fee of $90 per event starts on Tuesday, November 20 and online registration ends at midnight on Wednesday, November 21. A participant is not considered registered without payment. Registration at the door on the day of the event will be $120. No Credit Cards, Cash or checks only. NO REFUNDS AFTER 11/21/18. Format and Sanctioning: This tournament is sanctioned by the New Jersey Division of the USA Fencing. The format for each event consists of a round of pools with the top 80% promoted to the direct elimination round. There is no fence-off for third place if there are at least 13 fencers in the event. All fencers are required to comply with the USA Fencing standards for uniforms and equipment. Each fencer should bring at least two functional weapons and two body cords that meet USA Fencing requirements. Equipment check will test the mask, lame jacket or vest, gloves, (800 Newton glove mandatory for saber) and body cords. All lame materials (mask, bib, jacket, vest) will be tested for conductivity. There are no exceptions to the attire and equipment rules. You must have a current USA Fencing membership or join USA Fencing at the event. You must show your USA Fencing card or have proof that your membership payment has been made.
