Foil Train-a-ment

Foil “Train-a-ment” On Saturday September 8th Milwaukee Sport Fencing will have a foil event designed for learning fencers to understand tournament fencing. This "mock" tournament will help new tournament fencers to understand what is going on and can be an excellent practice for more experienced fencers. This will likely be the first event held in Wisconsin using the new "EnPointe" wireless system. A little bit of history. You must pre-register on FRED and Sign-in by 11:45AM at the meet. All fencers from clubs other than MSFA are welcome to come as early as 10AM and join our intermediate/advanced practice at no additional charge. It is important to note, that all fencing activities at MSFA require complete, correct fencing equipment, the same as any sanctioned tournament. This is an unsanctioned event that will have special rules regarding coaching during matches. Referees and coaches that are in attendance, are welcome to take time-outs and advise or explain something to a fencer or fencers. This is the opposite of what is normally called out by the rules. This is a unique opportunity to learn important things from "experienced" refs and fencers, about competing, in a relaxed atmosphere. You need the minimum USA Fencing membership and proper, complete fencing gear to attend. If you need electrical gear, it can be rented at a nominal cost. Please go online to askfred.net to sign up.
