Mission SYC (Super Youth Circuit) 2018

2018 Mission SYC The Super Youth Circuit (SYC) is sanctioned by USA Fencing. SYCs are a group of events throughout the country for youth fencers in the Y14, Y12, and Y10 age categories in all six weapons. They provide an opportunity for young athletes to experience elite competition, earn national points, and prepare for future national events while limiting travel time and expenses for the fencers and families. This SYC will provide an opportunity to earn national youth rolling points; additionally it is a qualifying path for Summer Nationals for Y14, Y12, and Y10 age categories. Cost Information: Registration is through askFRED.net. Payment must be made via Askfred.net. Registration is not complete until payment is made. The regular fee registration period begins on 02/27/18 and ends at 11:59pm EST on 04/09/18. The triple-fee registration period begins on 04/10/18. No registrations will be considered after 4/30/18. Regular Period Registration fee: $30 Regular Period Fee per Event: $40 Triple-Fee Period Registration fee: $90 Triple-Fee Period Fee per Event: $120 Registration fees will not be refunded. There are no exceptions. Prior to April 10th, 100% of the event fee will be refunded if the bout committee is contacted with a refund request. On or after April 10th, there will be no refunds of the event fee. All refund requests will be responded to within 2 weeks after the conclusion of the tournament. Fees are set by USAFencing and exceptions cannot be made. Please make your registrations early to avoid complications. Tournament Format: These events will have one round of pools, with 100% promotion into a direct elimination table. Engraved medals will be awarded to the top 8 finishers in each event. Classifications (ratings) can be awarded, however youth events must exceed criteria in Group C1 or higher to award changes in classifications. Please verify that your rating and points standing are correct with USAFencing, and contact the National Office to resolve any discrepancies prior to the tournament. Current National Rolling Point Standings according to age group and weapon. 2. Letter Classification with year. 3. Athletes with neither of the above are seeded on a random basis after the athletes who are seeded by the preceding factors. It is the fencer's responsibility to notify the Bout Committee of any registration discrepancies before the close of check-in for the event. (I.e. wrong club, wrong rating, misspelled name, etc.) As this information comes directly from askFRED and the USAFencing, fencers should make sure their FRED and USAFencing profiles are up-to-date and match! Eligibility Information: Fencers competing must be current competitive members of USAFencing. Please note that all memberships expire on July 31st, so if you have not renewed since July 31st you are not a current member. One-day memberships of High School Memberships are not valid for this tournament. If you do not have a membership at check-in, you will be required to sign up for one on the day of the tournament. Your USAFencing membership card will be checked during check-in, so please make sure you have it with you! Fencers must follow the age and classification restrictions set forth by the USAFencing. These restrictions can be found on the Chart on page 21 of the Athlete Handbook/section 2.5.1: http://www.usafencing.org/athlete-handbook A signed waiver of Liability is required. Note, photography, filming, recording or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by the host organization and USA Fencing. Those wishing to opt out of medial coverage must present the waiver to the BC in person. - Age verification required either by presenting: USA Fencing card stating Age Verified "Y" OR Copy of birth certificate, or other government-issued ID with photo -** Liability waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of USA Fencing and other applicable rules instituted by Mission Fencing Center. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release USA Fencing and its sponsors, Mission Fencing Center and referees/staff from any liability. With entry you give consent to tournament organizers to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, EMS personnel, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by Mission Fencing Center and USA Fencing. Uniform Requirements: All USA Fencing uniform requirements apply. This includes the mandatory use of knickers, long socks, and underarm protectors. Names are NOT required to be on the uniform. CONDUCTIVE FOIL BIBS ARE REQUIRED. 800N SABRE GLOVES ARE REQUIRED. The Armory Equipment Check will test the mask, lame (as appropriate), sabre cuffs, all gloves, mask cords and body cords. Items that have passed inspection will be specially marked, and directors will be checking for these marks prior to the start of fencing. Full Armory Equipment Check is required for all competitors, with no exceptions. Fencers only need to have their equipment passed once for the duration of the SYC. For Y10 events, a 30" or 32" blade is required. For Y12 and Y14, standard blade length of 30"-35" is permitted. These rules are strictly enforced. Venue Information: Mission Fencing Center is located at 346 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY 11778. They can be contacted at 631-821-1131 for directions or assistance. If inputting the address into a GPS, you can search for the Rocky Point Post Office which is also located in our shopping center. Ample parking can be found around the back of the shopping center, near the main entrance to Mission. FOOD: Sponsor McDonalds can be located on 25A on the way to the Venue. Located in the shopping plaza is a Subway restaurant, Italian/Pizza restaurant, Chinese restaurant, and a Bagel Store/Deli. There are numerous restaurants in the immediate surrounding area as well. In the venue is a full café with ample, reasonably priced food, drinks, and fresh fruit. Delicious CAPPUCCINO's and ESPRESSO's are available. Fencers are required to be checked in by this time. Fencing will typically begin shortly after registration closes. It is recommended to leave yourself ample time for travel, check-in, and equipment check prior to the close of registration of your events. Arriving at the venue at least 1 hour before the close of your registration is strongly recommended. Fencers must check-in each day by close of registration of their event that day. Waiver must be filled out and brought when checking in. Please also bring current USAFencing Card and Government Issued ID to check-in (Passport, Birth Certificate, etc.)if your membership card does not indicate you have been age verified. Fencers are only permitted to fence in one event per day. Exceptions to this rule are at the discretion of the Bout Committee and Tournament Organizers.
