3rd Annual Western Open Fencing Tournament Date: Saturday November 11, 2017 Venue: Thames Hall Gym, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario Schedule of Events (Close of Registration) Events start approximately 30 minutes after close of registration: 9:00 am Senior Men's Foil 9:00 am Senior Women's Epee 11:00 am Senior Women's Foil 12:00 pm Senior Men's Epee 12:00 pm Y14 Men's Sabre (Mixed if fewer than 6) 12:00 pm Y14 Women's Sabre (Mixed if fewer than 6) 1:00 pm Y14 Men's Foil (Mixed if fewer than 6) 1:00 pm Y14 Women's Foil (Mixed if fewer than 6) 2:00 pm Y14 Men's Epee (Mixed if fewer than 6) 2:00 pm Y14 Women's Epee (Mixed if fewer than 6) 2:00 pm Senior Women's Sabre 3:30 pm Senior Men's Sabre Pre-registration and Fees: Pre-registration closes on Tues Nov 7, 2017 at midnight and is only accepted online. Registrations after Nov 7, 2017 are considered late and face an increase in fees per event. All fees are to be paid at the door (CASH ONLY). Format: One round of pools with direct elimination, possible cut depending on registrants. Age Criteria for Open Tournaments: An athlete must be at least 13 years old as of December 31, 2017 for Senior participation, and at most 14 for Y14. Equipment Checks: All events will be fenced electrically. Equipment checks will consist of gloves, masks (Traditional fencing mask with the metal back (tongue) and horizontal elastic strap. Leon Paul Contour Fit Plus mask with horizontal back elastic strap and a horizontal non elastic strap.), body cords and lamés. Sabre cuffs, underarm protectors, fencing knickers and any and all safety equipment per FIE regulations are REQUIRED. General Information: The Western Open is sanctioned by the Ontario Fencing Association and the Canadian Fencing Federation. This event is worth CFF Domestic Points. All participants are required to have a CFF Fencing License. You may purchase/renew your license via the Canadian Fencing Federation website in real time: https://ontariofencing.goalline.ca/register.php?reg_form_id=9706 members must show a valid USFA membership card. All fencers are REQUIRED to wear a sous plastron and fencing pants with long socks so that the legs are fully protected. All foil fencers are required to have a conductive foil bib.This competition will be run according to current FIE regulations. The Directoire Technique reserves the right to apply or modify these regulations as they see fit as according to section t.15 of the FIE Rules.
