Go to askFRED.net then go to “MY FRED” to verify/correct your current email address. **Important Reminders** We will NOT accept entries at the door. Printed Entry and Waiver form required; must be signed by parent or guardian. You MUST have proof of age (copy of birth certificate or passport) and proof of current US Fencing competitive membership to compete** (if your USA Fencing membership card is age verified; proof of birth date is not required) **Fencers are NOT permitted to fence in more than one event at the same time*** Bring all required gear including appropriate length socks! We will not have an equipment vendor at the tournament. **Y10 events require #2 blades*** Tournament has been sanctioned by the Alabama Division of the US Fencing. US Fencing guidelines are strictly enforced, Registration and Fee Deadline is January 14, 2018. Triple Registration and Fees from January 14-January 19, 2018. You are not considered pre-registered until the event fees are paid. Payment is due in advance through askFRED. Triple Fee Deadline closes January 19, 2018 **All withdraws must be received by Birmingham Fencing Club by January 19, 2018 for a refund of event fees. No-shows are not entitled to refunds. Registration fee and any askFred surcharges are non-refundable. The last day to request a refund of entry fees is January 19, 2018. Submit all refund requests to birminghamfencingclubal@gmail.com Please be sure to include your preferred mailing address. Refunds will be processed within FOUR weeks after the tournament. All fencers must be current USFA members, and will need to show proof of membership, either by card or listed on the USFA online database. (Alternatively, a fencer may be a member in good standing of another National Federation or a current FIE license holder.) You may renew your USFA membership online or join at the tournament. Forms will be available at the tournament as well or can be downloaded from the USFA website at http://www.usfencing.org. If you do not have your USFA card with you when checking in, you will be required to complete a new USFA form and pay the annual fee. The form and payment will be returned to you upon proof of USFA membership subsequent to the tournament. RYC Fencers must have a parent or guardian signature (not a coach) on their USFA membership form (if renewing or joining at the tournament) and on the tournament entry form. Requirements: For those fencing in Y10, Y12 and Y14 events you must bring all of the following: 1) "Proof of birth/age" (i.e. birth certificate or passport or age verified USA Fencing Card) 2) Your valid US Fencing membership card or proof of current competitive membership. 3) A printout of the signed waiver below, attached or from our website: http://www.fencingclub.org; must be signed by parent or legal guardian. Equipment checks at the armory table will include mask, mask cords, gloves, body cords and lames prior to competition per RYC requirements. There will be weight/shim tests for all weapons brought onto the fencing strip. Proper attire required. You MUST wear a plastron. No sweatpants will be permitted. Standard fencing uniforms cannot have any rips tears or holes. In that case the men's and women's event will be combined in that age group. Please see the askFRED "who is coming" page for event days and times. Times listed are the close of registration time. Doors will open at 7:30 A.M. Armory Check and Registration will open At 8:00 A.M. Fencing should begin approximately 15-30 minutes after the close of registration for each event. Awards: 1st thru 8th place. If men’s and women’s events are combined for any age groups and/or weapons, there will be separate awards to the top 3 men and the top 3 women of each age group, based on their placement in the mixed event. There will be no fence off for third place in any event. All USFA rules apply. At the end of each bout, fencers are required to review and sign pool sheets and DE slips before leaving the strip. Y10 fencers must use blades that are no longer than 32.5 inches (i.e., blades that are designated a "0" or "2" under the internationally recognized lengths). Weapon length will be tested prior to competition. Tournament Format: Tournament format will be pools to five points, used to establish seeding to the direct elimination (DE). DE bouts will be conducted as they are at a NAC. For Y10-10 point bouts (two 3 minute periods with a 1 minute rest between periods). Y12 and Y14, the DE bouts are 15 touches (three 3-minute periods, with a 1-minute rest between periods).
