COMPETITION SITE: Forsyth Country Day School (Lewisville, NC) COMPETITION DATE: June 17-18 (2-day format in 2017!) ONLINE ENTRY FEE: Open Events: $45 for first event; $15 for each additional event Y12 Events: $25 for first event; $10 for each additional event ENTRY DEADLINES AND FEES: Fees listed above will be honored for all early-bird registrations by May 5th. There is a $10 fee increase for your first event starting on May 6th. There is an additional $10 increase on your first event for any registrations received after June 2nd. Online registration will close at 11:59 PM on June 9th. ** There will not be on-site registration in 2017! SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Saturday June 17th- Men's Epee - 9am Women's Foil – 9am Women's Saber - 11am Y12 Foil - 1pm Y 12 Saber – 2pm Sunday June 18th- Men's Foil – 9am Women's Epee - 9am Men's Saber - 11am Y12 Epee – 1pm COMPETITION FORMAT: Fencers will compete in pools of approximately 5-7 athletes, and then the results from the pool bouts will be used to place competitors into the direct elimination brackets. There will be 100% advancement into the direct elimination brackets. Direct elimination bouts will continue through the finals to determine overall placement. EQUIPMENT: Masks, gloves, body/mask cords, and lames will be checked by armory. Competitors will need at least two of each of the following (with valid inspection marks) when showing up to strip: Body/Mask cords and weapons. Fencers will not need their names stenciled on their uniforms for this event. Saber fencers must have an FIE 800N glove. AWARDS: The Top 3 finishers overall in each event will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. There will be no fence-off for 3rd place, thus there will be two bronze medals awarded. We will award medals to the Top 3 Veteran, Cadet, and Junior if participation allows. All medalists will qualify for the 2019 State Games of America in Lynchburg, VA. ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS: Fencers must be registered for this event through AskFred, as well as registering through the State Games registration system. USA FENCING MEMBERSHIPS: Fencers must have a current Competitive Membership. It is recommended that the fencers bring one of the following for proof of membership: a current membership card with a valid expiration date of 7/31/2017, a print out showing proof of paid membership with a valid expiration date of 7/31/2017, or a screenshot/picture of either of the aforementioned readily available on an electronic device such as a smartphone, tablet, etc. There will be one computer available for fencers to submit new/renewing membership information online, but any membership that does not process cannot be resolved before Monday thus making the fencer ineligible to compete in this tournament. Y12 Fencers must bring proof of their birth year. Acceptable documents include: a state-issued identification card, a passport, or a birth certificate.
