2018 Niagara Winter Open

Hosted by the Niagara Swords Fencing Club, the Niagara Winter Open is an event for youth and veteran fencers. Sanctioned by the Ontario Fencing Association and the Canadian Fencing Federation Under 15 events are registered as a qualifying event for the Ontario Winter Games. Fees: $50 CDN per event if pre-registered prior to January 24th, 2017. $70 CDN per event if registration January 25th-28st, 2018 All fees payable at the door by cash. CFF Members: A valid 2017-2018 license is required. USFA Members: Please put 0000 in the CFF license field Venue: Brock University Ian Beddis Gym 1812 Sir Issac Brock Way St Catharines, ON, L2S 3A1 Format: This tournament shall be run in accordance with FIE and CFF rules and regulations, subject to the interpretations of the Directoire Technique. All formats used will be consistent with the Canadian Fencing Federation’s Long Term Athlete Development recommendations. For more information on LTAD please refer to the following document: https://www.fencing.ca/LTAD All events will have 1 round of pools followed by direct elimination. Under 15 and Cadet events fence to 15 in DE rounds. Under 13 and Veteran fence to 10 in DE rounds. There is no bout for 3rd place. Two bronze medals will be awarded. General: All competitors must hold a current membership (CFF/OFA or USFA etc) for the 2017-2018 season All fencers are subject to Article t.15 of the FIE Rules and Regulations. Current Age is irrelevant. Anyone registered for an event they are ineligible will be removed from the event at the discretion of the tournament organizers.
