Western NY Circuit #1, hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology Fencing Club. ENTRY FEES Pre-registration through askfred = $20.00 Pay-at-the-door = $25.00 Fee for B and A rated fencers = $10.00 (For B and A ranked fencers, please pre-register and pay your discounted fee upon arrival). LOCATION The tournament is being held in the Clark Gym, NOT in the Gordon Field House, where we have held our previous tournaments. At each event, participants receive points based on their performance, and at the end of the series, the leading points holder in each respective weapon will take home the grand prize: an awesome replica SWORD! We will award medals at each individual Circuit (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd - no fence off for third place). POINT STANDINGS How are points earned? There will be a base number of points dependent upon the number of competitors, plus points correlating to the placement of the fencer. For example: Base points: each will receive points depending on # of entrants. 6-14 fencers = everyone gets 2 points 15-24 fencers - everyone gets 4 points 25 + fencers - everyone gets 8 points These points will be added to results based points using Mark's original equation: # of participants - Fencer's Result + 1 = Results points. Example: 16 person event, 1st place finisher would be (16 - 1) + 1 = 16 2nd place = 16-2 +1 +15, Etc. FORMAT: 1 round of pools, 100% promotion to 15 touch direct elimination (foil & Epee will have three - 3 minute periods). No fence off for third place. Each Circuit is a USFA sanctioned event, requiring competitive membership. Unlike some of RIT's other tournaments, all competitors are required to appear with full fencing uniform in accordance to USFA guidelines, including: -800N gloves for saber only). -Mask(w/ bib for foil) -2 mask cords(foil and sabre) -2 body cords -Knickers and full length socks(not athletic pants!) -Glove -Jacket -Plastron -Lame(foil and sabre) -2 working weapons We will lend gear to active RIT Fencing Club members, but cannot lend to anyone else.
