Fencers must check-in each day by close of registration of their event that day. Friday, September 9th Doors Open 5:30pm Veteran Men's Epee, Women's Epee, Mixed Foil, & Mixed Sabre- 6:30pm SPECIAL DEAL FOR VETS! THREE EVENTS FOR THE PRICE OF TWO! Sign up for vet foil, vet saber, and vet epee and get the third event free (Pay full fees online and you will be refunded the cost by check) We have extended the deadline for the non-ROC vet events to Sept 9, and are not raising the event or registration fees for the vet events. If you sign up after Sept 1 for the vet events, you'll need to pay the higher fees on AskFred but we will refund you the upcharge by check. Also note that Bay Cup season members will get a discount of $15 per Div1A event or non-ROC vet event (refunded by check). Veteran fencers that compete in the senior events will automatically qualify for the corresponding veteran event at Summer Nationals. Competing in the veteran events on Friday evening WILL NOT qualify you for Summer Nationals. There will be a medal for the top finishing woman in each mixed event. PARKING: Parking is available in front and in back of the building. Parking in the rear is accessible through the driveway on the right side of the building as you enter the property. Note that parking along this access driveway will not be available. Additional parking off-site is available on nearby side streets and in front of the Walmart Neighborhood Market in the Sun Garden Shopping Center south of E. Alma Ave (a short 4 - 5 minute walk). Please park away from the Market building and avoid the north wall where their associates park. RESTAURANTS/CONVENIENCE: Walmart Neighborhood Market is a full service grocery store and carries a full line of sport drinks, fruits and snacks. Located 2 blocks away. There are two fast-food restaurants within a one-block distance, Denny's and Wendy's. Also at the Sun Garden Shopping Center, on the street in front of Walmart, are a Jack in the Box and a brand new Starbucks with a drive-through. There are several restaurants, fast food options, and another Starbucks at the Plant Shopping Center, 1.5 miles south on South 1st St. Downtown Willow Glen (Lincoln Ave between Willow St and Minnesota Ave) with a number of restaurants and shops (e.g., Aqui, Opa, The Table, and Stumpy's!), is 2 miles west (an 8 - 10 minute drive). San Pedro Square Market, at North San Pedro and W. St. John in downtown San Jose, 2 miles north (a 10 - 15 minute drive) is a public market with a variety of upscale food-court options. WAIVER: By registering for the tournament, you, as a participant, or your parent/guardian if you are under the age of 18, confirm that you or your parent/guardian have read and are in agreement with the conditions of the waiver. Unless you choose to opt out via the drop down menu on the registration page, you are confirming your acceptance of the photo/video release by registering for the tournament. TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The standard format used for all events is one round of pools with 100% promotion to a direct elimination table with no repechage. We will not be fencing off for 3rd. 16 full-length strips including 11 grounded. We will be using the new timings and on-guard rules for Sabre events. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: Fencers competing must be current competitive members of USA Fencing or show proof of valid FIE license. For senior age events; a fencer must have a birth year of 2003 or earlier or be on the National Junior point standings. For veteran age events; a fencer must have a birth year of 1977 or earlier. EQUIPMENT CHECK AND REQUIREMENTS: All USA Fencing uniform requirements apply. This includes regulation fencing jacket and pants, underarm protector, knee socks, and a fencing glove that covers half the forearm. Women must wear chest protectors. Sabre gloves must be 800N. Masks with conductive bibs for foil are required, masks with visors are not allowed, sabre or foil masks with conductive material are not allowed for epee events. Please arrive early to allow time for equipment check. Equipment will be inspected and marked (masks, lames, sabre cuffs, gloves, mask cords, and body cords). Names are NOT required on uniforms. Equipment check will be open Friday night 6-9pm, with priority given to those fencing in the veteran events until after the pools have started. Equipment check will open Sat & Sun at 8am. On the strip, referees will be checking for a second weapon and body cord, underarm protectors, and chest protectors.
