Central Coast New Years Foil

Note: this will be a fun, low-cost, sanctioned, and self-reffed tournament. There will be experienced and rated refs among the competitors. Event: Open Foil Format: Santa Barbara Style What is Santa Barbara Style? First, everyone fences in pools like usual. Then we take the top 50% of fencers out of pools and go to Direct Elimination. The bottom half is eliminated from the first event, but we then immediately start a second event with just those fencers (plus anyone who wants to come late). That second event will promote everyone out of pools into DEs. This tournament format is designed to maximize fencing for the whole range of skill levels. The first event starts at 11AM. If you just want to come for the second event, registration will close at 12:30PM. Entry Fee: - $15 if you pre-register or $20 if you do not. A Competitive USFA membership for 2015-2016 is required. You can get this online at https://www.railstation.org/usfencing/default.aspx. Please sign-up online to speed registration along. According to USFA rules, all fencers must have a mask with a conductive bib for foil fencing. Knickers and under-arm protectors are also required. Pre-registration closes on December 31. Don't wait until the last minute to pre-register so we can plan accordingly. Directions: You'll see a sign from Highway 154 for Dunn. Just off the highway you'll see a road going left and one going straight. Take the road straight until you get to a closed gate and then turn left along the fence. You'll pass the gym and then see a parking lot on the left. The gym is the metal structure across from the pool.
