Check-in Times: 10:00 AM Mixed Saber B & Under (Open to all fencers except highest level A fencers) 10:00 AM Mixed Youth Development Saber (Ages 14 and younger) Practice 11:00 AM Mixed B & Under Epee (Open to all fencers except highest level A fencers) 11:00 AM Mixed Youth Development Epee (Ages 14 and younger) Practice 11:30 AM Mixed B & Under Foil (Open to all fencers except highest level A fencers) 1:00 PM Mixed U Foil (Open to all fencers - Unclassified) 2:30 PM Mixed Y14 Foil (Birth Years: 2001 - 2004) 3:00 PM Women’s Foil B & Under (Open to all fencers except highest level A fencers) Events scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2015: DESF Novice & Youth Development Practice Tournaments: See Description Below. 10:00 AM Mixed Youth Development Foil (Ages 12 and younger) 11:30 AM Mixed Cadet Foil (Practice) (Ages 13 – 17) 11:30 AM Mixed Senior Foil (Practice) (Ages 13 and older) 12:30 PM Mixed Youth Development Saber (Ages 12 and younger) 12:30 PM Mixed Youth Development Epee (Ages 12 and younger) USA Fencing Events Eligibility (as per USFA Rules): Must be a USA Fencing Member or Canadian Federation Member and events are conducted with electric gear. You can join USA Fencing at the tournament or on-line at http://www.usfencing.org. Please review the USA Fencing Age Class Chart for eligibility in all events: http://www.usfencing.org/page/show/698393-age-and-classification-requirements B & U USFA Events - Must be born 2002 or earlier. In any tournament where children can fence with adults, the fencer must be 13 by January 1 of the competition season (August - July). B & Under = B,C,D,E,U classifications may participate. U Events = Only Unrated fencers may participate. Mixed = Men & Women combined. Electric gear is required for all USFA Events. All USA Fencing Foil Events require mask with conductive bibs and mask cords. Youth Development Practice Round Robins: DESF practice tournaments for youth. This format is designed to assist youth to have a fuller learning experience at fencing tournaments and to address youth events that have had historically low turnouts. The format involves fencers as volunteer mentors to assist in creating bouting opportunities for youth with the goal of developing a stronger local field of youth fencers. Novice DESF Practice Round Robins: Novice Events may be conducted non-electrically with judges, or with electric equipment depending on availability. These events are sponsored by DESF as practice tournaments for new fencers and are not Northeast Division sanctioned USA Fencing events. Pre-registration & Entry Fees: USA Fencing sanctioned events: Entry fees: $20 per event at the door. $15 per event if you pre-register on Ask-FRED by Friday, 10/2/15. These fees only apply to DESF hosted tournaments. Pre-registration closes Friday, 10/2/14 at 9:00 PM. Youth Development & Novice events: $10 per event per person. Courtesy of pre-registration is highly encouraged, but those wishing to register at the door are welcome. All volunteer donations to the referee fund are welcome and highly appreciated to help pay or discount the entry fees of those who volunteer to referee. When appropriate, incentives (i.e., discounted entry fees) will be offered to encourage additional participation in low turnout events to increase fencing opportunities. The tournament manager reserves the right to determine the type and amount of these incentives on an individual event basis. Awards: As traditional, various "Lobster related" prizes will be awarded. Medals for the top three finishers will be given for each event. Any classifications in USA Fencing Events will be awarded according to USA Fencing tournament rules and conditions. On-Sale Items from the DESF Fencing Flea Market: DESF will provide a table for still on-sale items from the DESF fencing flea market which was formally held at out last Maine Season Opener. Fencers are welcome to shop and swap for inexpensive, used fencing gear.
