Fredericksburg, Virginia is a 50 minute drive from Richmond International Airport and just about 60 minutes from Reagan National (DCA) and Dulles International (IAD). There are high traffic volumes on 95 as well as construction zones which will cause delays in getting to Fredericksburg. Please plan accordingly and give yourself plenty of time to get to the competition. Fredericksburg is a historic town with tons of great restaurants of all cuisines and price points. Really, there's too many places to list, but we'll provide information at the venue on where to go! Regional Open Circuit Qualification Path Information Eligibility to Enter: Div IA: Born 2002 or before (or on the Junior National Rolling Points List), with any rating Div 2: Born 2002 or before, and with C, D, E, or U rating ROC events function as qualifiers to the National Championships Division I-A, Division II and Veteran Categories, and may qualify fencers to other events, depending upon classification and status. The USFA Athlete Handbook contains detailed information on qualifying pathways and should be consulted as the appropriate reference document. ROC tournaments are open to current USFA competitive members eligible to fence in Open competitions and to foreign fencers with current FIE licenses; however, foreign fencers are not eligible to compete in USA Fencing National Championship events. An athlete can fencer at any ROC and may earn points at any ROC. Regional points are awarded to 40% of the competitive field. Best 3 results from ROCs count toward Regional point totals on a seasonal point basis. In the event that a foreign fencer finishes within the qualifying group, the foreign fencer will be skipped. Qualification Path to Nationals from the Vet ROCs Fence in your weapon event(s) at any Regional Open Circuit during the current season. Qualification Path to Div1A Nationals from the D1A ROCs Placed in the top 8 at the previous season's Div1A National Championships, OR Placed in the top 4 at the previous season's Div2 National Championships, OR Be on the current season's Div1A ROC Regional Point Standings, OR Be in the top 8 of the Div2 ROC Regional Point Standings Qualification Path to Div2 Nationals from the D2 ROCs Have classification of C, D, E, or U, at the time of the qualifying competition, AND Be on the current season's Div2 ROC Regional Point Standings, OR Be on the current season's Div1A ROC Regional Point Standings, OR Place in the top 25% of your current season's Division Qualifier *Note.. if a fencer meets the classification requirement at the qualifying competition and subsequently earns a higher classification, the fencer retains eligibility for that tournament Regional Points – The ROCs award points to the top 40% of the competitive field in region (this is Region 6). Refer to the Athlete Handbook for more details on points. The ROC point standings are not used for seeding National level tournaments. ROC point standings are maintained at usfencing.org. ROC points are considered seasonal. Liability waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of the US Fencing and other applicable rules instituted by the Virginia Division of US Fencing, LLC (VA DIV). You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the US Fencing and its sponsors,(VA DIV), and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to the (VA DIV) to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by the (VA DIV) and the US Fencing. Div II - Letter ranking/ year • Only official USFA ratings will be used. Ratings will be verified prior to the event. Check current ratings at http://usfencing.org/us-fencing-membership/current-membership-listing • Format: One round of pools (5-touch/3 minute bouts), then all fencers advance to direct elimination round (15 touch/9-minute bouts.) • Prizes awarded to Top 8. • Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee immediately. Fencer signature on pool score sheets and DE bout slip implies accuracy. Withdrawal: • Withdrawal during pools: If medical withdrawal occurs during pool round (fencer does not complete pool), then fencer has no results to report and cannot be used towards competitive field total to determine classification or qualification to championships. • Withdrawal during DE: If medical withdrawal occurs after completion of the pool or during DE round the fencer keeps place in table to determine results and may be used towards competitive field total to determine classification and/or qualification to championships. • A fencer receiving a black card (for failure to appear at strip or other penalty in accordance with the penalty chart) will be listed in the final results as “Fencer Excluded,” and results cannot be used toward competitive field total to determine classification and/or qualification to championships. Any refunds due to any fencer that preregistered and paid for their events but were not able to compete, will be processed after the competition. Event fees for those individuals will be refunded for events that they had paid their event fee for, but were not able to compete in those events. When requesting a refund, type "REFUND" in the subject line. The $30 registration fees are non-refundable. Preregistration opens on 07/25/2015. Preregistration closes on 09/7/2015.
