The Cory “Andrew” Stauble Memorial Open Tournament

On July, 9, 2002, Cory and his girlfriend were killed when a Drunk Driver flew across the median of an expressway and hit them. There is currently a Memorial Fencing Fund in Cory’s name that helps send young fencers to tournaments as well as helping with other expenses. A donation in Cory’s name, to Mothers Against Drunk Driving will also be made to prevent the loss of more of our young stars.

Membership requirements:
- USFA membership is required and all events will be run according to USFA rules and regulations. Fencers will not be permitted to compete without proof of membership in the form of valid USFA cards or letters of good standing from the USFA, or without a completed membership application and payment. Membership applications will be available at the tournament.

Age Criteria for Open Events:

a. The USA Fencing Board of Directors has ruled that for any USFA competition that is not specific to an age group, an athlete must be at least 13 years old as of January 1 of the fencing season. The exemption to this rule applies to any fencer who is younger than 13 on January 1 but who is listed on the latest National Junior Point standings; then that fencer is allowed to compete in the USA Fencing competitions not specific to an age group. The athlete must meet any other criteria stated for that competition.

NOTICE: In preparation for our big Cory Stauble Tournament this Saturday, we wanted to share some important information with you!
1. There is a Humana associate 5K run planned for Saturday morning down Main ST. It starts at the Humana Tower and goes down main ST to 22nd ST. People coming to the LFC should plan their routes accordingly - it is recommended to come to the center via the interstates to Muhammad Ali Blvd ... the race should only affect people who come in via River RD, Brownsboro RD, or other surface streets.
