Michel Alaux Cup - Veteran ROC
November 21st, 2010
Fencers Club, New York, NY
The Michel Alaux Cup is a Regional Open Circuit event that welcomes veteran competitors from all over the country to the historic N.Y. Fencers Club for a full day of exciting action and top notch fencing.
The tournament commemorates the world renowned French-American Fencing Master and author, Michel Alaux (1924-1974).
In his day, Michel Alaux approached the sport of fencing as an art and a science. He taught fencing as an exciting combination of rapid analytical thinking and elegant movements.
Michel Alaux bridged the worlds of classical and modern Olympic fencing and in 1956, accepted the position of head Fencing Master at the N.Y. Fencers’ Club - a position he occupied until his death in 1974. Now, nearly 60 years later the Fencers Club is proud to host the Michel Alaux Cup - ROC Veterans Epee Tournament as a tribute of one of the sport’s greatest masters.
"Success depends to a great extent on the fencer's ability to deal with the opponent's game: to evaluate his strong points as well as take advantage of his weaknesses." - Michel Alaux
