Bakersfield First Friday Fencing Tournament Events: E-and-Under Senior Mixed Foil - 6:00 p.m. -capped at 21 fencers. Preregistration opens on 01/07/2023. Preregistration closes on 02/02/2023. Please pre-register for planning purposes. Kindly remove your entry or contact us directly if your plans change and you will not be able to participate, as our events are capped and we may have a waitlist. Thank you for your consideration. LOCATION: Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation (KAFF) Fencing Studio, located upstairs of The Woman’s Club of Bakersfield. 2030 18th Street, 2nd Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301 VENUE: KAFF is located in a historic building in downtown Bakersfield and there is plenty of free street parking. The fencing venue is up a flight of external stairs and there is no elevator in the building. Spectator seating is limited. An equipment room is available for fencing bags. Doors will open at 4:00 p.m. REGISTRATION: Sanctioned Event Fee is $40, ($10 for current KAFF Club Members), payable at the door by cash, venmo or card. Current USA Fencing Competitive or Access membership is required. Fencers must be born in 2009 or earlier to compete in Senior Events. CHECK-IN: Check-in opens one hour before the event. FORMAT: One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place. Medals will be awarded to top 4 fencers in each event. EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required: jacket, underarm protector, fencing knickers, socks covering legs below the knickers, glove, foil mask with conductive bib and use of mask cord. Chest protectors are required for women and must include the FIE foam padding per USA Fencing standards. NO armory or equipment repair on site.
