Join us in Bakersfield for our 1st Annual Holiday Classic 3-weapon OPEN tournament, plus Y-14 (unsanctioned) and PARA events. Short drive, cool weather, spacious venue, professional referees, livestream video coverage, great fencing! Preregistration opens on 11/11/2022. Preregistration closes on 12/17/2022. *extended deadline! Please pre-register for planning purposes. Please email the organizer to register after the pre-registration deadline. Events Scheduled: (Check back here 3 days before event for any time changes or announcements.) 8:30 a.m. Senior Mixed EPEE 9:00 a.m. Senior Mixed SABER 10:00 a.m. Mixed PARA Walk-&-Roll Saber (unsanctioned) 12:30 p.m. Y14 Mixed Foil (unsanctioned) 1:00 p.m. Senior Mixed FOIL 2:00 p.m. Mixed PARA Walk-&-Roll Foil (unsanctioned) LOCATION: Standard Middle School Gymnasium, 1200 Chester Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93308. Free parking in gymnasium lot located off Ferguson Avenue or Standard School District Office lot at corner of Chester Avenue. VENUE: Fully-accessible ultra-modern gymnasium in North Bakersfield. Springboard wood floors. Ample spectator seating in bleachers, plus livestream video feed available for viewing. (No public wi-fi.) Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. REGISTRATION: Sanctioned event fee is $40. Unsanctioned event fee is $20 each. Current USA Fencing Competitive or Access membership is required. Fencers must be born in 2009 or earlier to compete in Senior Events. Exception: The Y-14 unsanctioned event is restricted to fencers born in years 2008 - 2011, and a USA Fencing non-competitive membership or higher is allowed for this event. Join or Renew your USA Fencing Membership here: https://member.usafencing.org/ CHECK-IN: Please arrive one hour before your event to check in and warm up. Masks and gloves will be inspected. FORMAT: One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place. Medals will be awarded to top 4 fencers in each event. EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required, including jacket, under-arm protector, fencing knickers, socks covering legs below the knickers, shoes with non-marking soles. Fencer must use the appropriate glove, lame' and mask for weapon being fenced. Saber fencers must use USA Fencing approved 800N glove. Chest protectors are required for women. For foil events, chest protectors must have foam padding per USA Fencing standards and bear FIE or armorer’s mark. Masks & gloves will be checked by the armorer or bout committee. PARAFENCING FOIL & SABER EVENTS: Our mixed "PARAFENCING Walk and Roll" events are done in a seated position on fixed parafencing floor frames. Fencers of all abilities are welcome to try this adaptive paralympic exhibition event, which will be fenced at nearly the same time as the able-bodied events, so fencers may participate in both concurrently.
