Bakersfield First Friday Fencing Tournament Events Scheduled: E-and-Under Senior Mixed Foil - 6:00 p.m. Unsanctioned Unrated Open Mixed Foil - 6:30 p.m. Preregistration opens on 05/06/2022. Preregistration closes on 06/02/2022. LOCATION: Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation (KAFF) Fencing Studio, located upstairs of The Woman’s Club of Bakersfield. 2030 18th Street, 2nd Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301 VENUE: KAFF is located in a historic building in downtown Bakersfield and there is plenty of free street parking. The fencing venue is up a flight of external stairs and there is no elevator in the building. Spectator seating is limited. An equipment room is available for fencing bags. Doors will open at 4:00 p.m. REGISTRATION: Sanctioned Event Fee is $10 for current KAFF Club Members or $20 for all others, payable at the door by cash or check. Current USA Fencing competitive or Access membership is required. Fencers must be born in 2008 or earlier to compete in Senior Event. Unsanctioned, unrated Event Fee is $5 and registration is restricted to current members of the Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation (KAFF). CHECK-IN: Check-in opens one hour before the event. FORMAT: One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place. Medals will be awarded to top 4 finishers in sanctioned events. Ribbons will be awarded to top 4 in unsanctioned events. EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required: jacket, underarm protector, fencing knickers, socks covering legs below the knickers, glove, foil mask with conductive bib and use of mask cord. Chest protectors are required for women and must include the foam padding per USA Fencing standards. NO armory or equipment repair on site.
