As of January 13, 2021: All fencers and visitors (This applies to EVERYONE inside Venue - Fencers, Coaches, Referees, staff, etc. in attendance) must be fully Vaccinated or provide a Negative Covid 19 test that is performed 48 to 72 hours prior to the day of the tournament. If you are unvaccinated - Please Provide Proof of a NEGATIVE COVID Test to be taken 48 to 72 hours before the tournament. League School Fencers will need to submit their vaccine records or Negative Covid 19 test results to their coach by Friday, Feb 4, 2022. Non-League School Fencers who are not vaccinated, will need to EMAIL negative covid test results to Derek at fencinirish@msn.com by Friday, Feb 4, 2022. The Southern California Scholastic Fencing League individual foil events are open to all Middle School and High School students. Bring your school ID and proof of USFA Competitive or USFA Access membership. HIGH SCHOOL - GRADES 9 to 12 MIDDLE SCHOOL - GRADES 6 to 8 If your school does not issue a school ID, please bring proof of school enrollment, i.e. registration, letter from school stating grade, etc. UPON CHECK IN AT THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT, PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING:(NO EXCEPTIONS) Proof of Grade (make sure to list your school as the primary club for this tournament) Proof of USFA Competitive or Access Membership (copy of card showing expiration date) Payment or Proof or Payment (See below for payment options) Proof of Full Vaccination or Negative Covid Test as stated above. LEAGUE SCHOOLS Brentwood School Chaminade Middle School And High School Harvard Westlake Middle School and High School Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation Lakeview Middle School (Victorville) Le Lycee Francais Central LA #9 (VAPA) Oakwood High School Vistamar High School Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Format: There will be one round of pools with 100% advancing to direct elimination in all individual competitions. The direct elimination bouts will be fifteen touch bouts, with the appropriate breaks determined by which weapon is being fenced. The breaks for direct elimination round is 1 minute 30 seconds now. Yelling is OK with USFA. All Spectators must remain in the bleachers during the competition. Once you are eliminated in the Direct elimination round, please leave the venue. Equipment: A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers. Socks must cover all the leg not covered by the knickers. Women's equipment must include breast protectors made of metal or rigid material inside the jacket. The appropriate glove, lame and mask for the weapon being fenced are required. Please wear shoes with non-marking or white soles to all competitions. All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask. Foil Fencers: USFA Foil "Padded" chest guards will be enforced and checked. Material must have the SEMI technical mark at the center of the upper edge, per USA Fencing Rules of Competition, section m.25.4(c) Inspections: Masks and gloves will be inspected by the armorer. Weapons will be tested on the strip. You will not be allowed to fence with weapons that do not conform to USFA standards. Reminder: All Varsity High School Fencers must fence in either/or both the #1 or #2 Foil Individual to be considered for a High School Varsity "A" Team for the SoCal Scholastic League Foil Team Tournament. All fencers must fence in one scholastic league individual event or Novice event to qualify to fence in the Team Event to be held on March 13, 2022 at Harvard-Westlake. Results tabulated from the Individual Foil #1 on December 18, 2021 and Individual Foil #2 on February 6, 2022 will be used to determine medals. Medals will be awarded through 8th place at the Foil Team Tournament. By entering this tournament, we will be following the codes of conduct set by USA Fencing. All persons inside the venue must be FULLY VACCINATED or have Negative Covid test done the week of the tournament. TEMPERATURE CHECK Temperature check will be performed prior to entry of venue. If you have a fever, you will be asked to leave. Please be prepared to show a copy of your vaccine record or copy of negative covid test result upon entry. MASKING Everyone inside the venue will be required to wear masks at all times regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be at least two-ply (no neck gaiters). Masks must cover nose and mouth. PHYSICAL DISTANCING Maintain at least 6 feet apart. No sharing of beverages or food. No handshaking. LIMITATIONS ON OBSERVERS Only 2 Spectators are allowed to accompany the fencer. STAYING HOME WHEN APPROPRIATE: If you are feeling unwell, please stay home. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are showing COVID-19 symptoms. If you have had a close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19. If you have any signs of the following:. • Fever or feeling feverish (chills, sweating) • New cough • Difficulty breathing • Sore throat • Muscle aches or body aches • Vomiting or diarrhea • New loss of taste or smell
