This is the Orange Coast Division's Summer National Championship an Junior Olympic qualifier event for Div 2,3, Junior and Cadet ONLY (no Youth-14 events). ONLY ORANGE COAST DIVISION MEMBERS MAY COMPETE IN THESE QUALIFIERS. NO WALK IN REGISTRATION!!!

ONLY USFA MEMBERS CURRENTLY REGISTERED WITH THE ORANGE COAST DIVISION MAY PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION COVID protocols will be in place for this tournament. Updated information will be sent out to preregistrants and will be posted to AskFred as necessary. Please see below for current protocols. The entry fee is $30.00 for each event and requires preregistration on askFred. Registration closes on Friday, May 21. EVENT SCHEDULE & CLOSE OF CHECK-IN TIMES: ** NOTE: All Youth-14 events have been cancelled due to a change in USA Fencing policy for this season only that division qualifiers will not be a qualifying path for that age category at the SN. If you have already completed registration for any Y14 events, you should have received an email with refund information. 10:30 am - Men's & Women's Division II/III Saber 11:30 am - Men's & Women's Division II/III Epee 12:30 pm - Men's & Women's Division II/III Foil Junior Olympic qualifier events will also be held: 9:00 am - Men's & Women's Junior Foil 10:00 am - Men's & Women's Junior Epee 11:00 am - Men's & Women's Junior Saber 1:00 pm - Men's & Women's Cadet Saber 2:00 pm - Men's & Women's Cadet Epee 3:00 pm - Men's & Women's Cadet Foil Division II & III will be run as a single combined event for each gender and weapon. Results will be separated for the purposes of qualification. Division II fencers ratings are limited to C, D, E, U; Division III fencers ratings are limited to D, E, U. USA Fencing Athlete Handbook Section 2.6.4 explains how qualifiers are determined for combined events. Junior & Cadet will be run as separate events. However, if a fencer qualifies for Junior and is able to fence in the Cadet JO's, he or she will automatically qualifer for Cadet and will not need to fence in the Cadet event for that weapon. Please note the following: USA Fencing requires a current membership, which we will request proof of at the time of check-in. You may present a current card, or an image on your phone or an e-mail receipt. You may print a current card from https://member.usafencing.org/ Once you log-in to your account go to "My Profile" and select "Profile" and then select "My Membership Card" and print. We will also be checking proof of year the fencer was born if the USA Fencing Membership Card does not indicate "DOB Verified: Y" For Y14 events the birth years are 2006-2009. Division II/III birth years are 2007 and earlier. Any copy or digital image is acceptable proof. These include: birth certificate, passport, immigration card, immunization record, school transcripts. Use of Plastron (or underarm protector) is required Weapon's Check: All weapons will be scored electrically. Equipment (masks and gloves) will be inspected and marked. REGARDING QUALIFICATION: Please check the USA Fencing Athlete Handbook Section 2.6.3.1 regarding Number of Qualifiers. We will fence off for third only where necessary. (http://www.usafencing.org/athlete-handbook) The venue has 7 strips in use for the tournament. Covid protocols will be in force during this competition. Please read the following policies carefully prior to registration. This tournament is subject to all applicable federal, state and local governance regarding Covid-19. If there is a change in mandate at any government level this tournament will be subject to that change, effective immediately. Please note the following: - Anyone entering the building must wear an appropriate mask (face shields are not acceptable). Masks that cover both the nose and mouth must be worn at all times while in the venue. - Only fencers will be allowed in the building. One coach per club may be in the building; this coach must be the designated coach for the club (parents may not coach their children). For fencers under the age of 18, ONE parent may accompany them but please remain off the fencing floor at all times. All spectators must remain outside the building. Pop-up tents and chairs will be available during the event. - Everyone entering the building will be temperature checked upon arrival. If you feel unwell, please do not show up to the event. - Equipment check will be conducted outside and will include masks and gloves. In an effort to minimize bathroom usage, please arrive with knickers already on. -Food and drink will not be available for purchase in the venue. Please be sure to bring your own and consume it outside. - There will be no handshaking or elbow bumps during the event. Salutes prior to and after the bouts are sufficient. Per USA Fencing guidelines, fencers are to refrain from shouting after touches or after bouts.
