FRED Announces the WWD Junior Olympic Qualifiers November 25, 2018 Epee and foil at Rain City Fencing Center Saber at Salle Auriol Seattle Fencers who want to fence at JOs in February must qualify at this event unless they have sufficient national or regional points. -------- Event Schedule --------- Sunday, November 25, 2018 Doors open at 9:30am All Junior events close of registration at 10:00 AM All Cadet events close of registration at 12 noon Due to this event's small size and the fact that most events will have too few fencers to be fenced, we are scheduling things this way to maximize efficiency. In each event, the top 25% (rounded up) will qualify for JOs, with a minimum of 3. If 3 or fewer fencers show up for an event, the event will not be fenced and all will qualify. Fencers that earn qualification at the Junior events will automatically for the corresponding Cadet event (if age-eligible.) -------- Registration Information --------- Entry fee is $20 per event entered. Fees will NOT be refunded if an event is not fenced because everyone automatically qualifies. Payment can be made at the door in cash. Unfortunately we will not be able to accept credit cards at this event. Please, NO CHECKS. -------- Tournament Rules -------- Cadet events are open to fencers born in 2002-2005. Junior events are open to fencers born in 1999-2005. Since this is a national qualifier, all competitors must be current members of the USFA Western Washington Division and US citizens or permanent residents. Please join or renew your USFA membership online at http://www.usfencing.org prior to arriving at the event. Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed. Saber fencers must have the 800N glove. We will inspect and mark masks, lames, body cords, head cords, and gloves. Equipment inspection will be done the day of the tournament.
