Y8, Div 2, Open, Veteran TRI-STATE VETERAN SABER CUP EVENT NJ CUP VETERAN SABER CUP EVENT NJ CUP OPEN SABER CUP EVENT ..........ENTRY • OPEN events open to any fencer born 2001 or before (or on the Junior National Rolling Points List) with any rating. • DIV 2 events open to any fencer born 2001 or before with C, D, E, or U rating • VETERAN events open to any fencer born 1975 or earlier, any rating • Y8 events open to any fencer born 2006-2009 • Current USFA competitive or other foreign federation membership required. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the USFA and its sponsors, Cobra, and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to Cobra to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. You accept full financial responsibility for any medical treatment necessary. Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by Cobra and the USFA. EVENT DATES (so far the following events on the Vet calendar): MFC (Nov 23, Jun 7) Candlewood (Nov 30, Feb 1) NYAC (Jan 3) Cobra (Mar 15, May 24) SFA (One date in Spring TBD) Lilov (Participation TBD, but potentially one date in Spring) ..........NJ DIVISION OPEN SABER CUP and NJ DIVISION VETERAN SABER CUP All USA Fencing-sanctioned open tournaments held in the New Jersey Division from August 1, 2014, thru Memorial Day 2015, are points eligible events. Separate awards for Open and Veteran Cups (Cups are awarded at year-end NJ Division meeting) See point standings at: https://askfred.net/Results/pointsLists.php?page_id=2 •Senior fencers only. •Each fencer in the event is assigned a value based on their rating: U=2, E=3, D=4, C=5, B=6, A=7. •Then each fencer earns the number of points equal to the total value of all the fencers who finish below them, plus 2 points •Each fencer's best 6 results count towards totals ..........TOURNAMENT FORMAT • USFA rules apply (http://www.usfencing.org/page/show/695208-rulebook) • Full USFA regulation uniform is required. Must have at least two working weapons and two body cords. • Initial seeding using USFA rating/year. Fencers with equal ratings will be randomized. Only official (i.e. published on the USA Fencing website) USA Fencing ratings will be used for initial seeding. Check your rating prior to the event and if there are discrepancies you must resolve the issue with USA Fencing. Only an official response from USA Fencing will override the ratings published on the USA Fencing website. • Each event consists of two rounds (pools and direct elimination), with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination round. Pools: One preliminary round of pools comprised of the standard 5-touch bout in 3 minutes. 100% then advance to direct elimination round. Direct Elimination Tableau shall be comprised according to the results of the preliminary pool round. DE bouts are 15 touch/9-minute bouts. During the 1-minute break, ONE PERSON designated by the fencer (team-mate, coach, or parent) may be on the strip with the fencer. • No fence-off for third place. • Ratings can be awarded. Fencer signature on pool score sheets and DE bout slip implies accuracy. Any mistakes in posted information throughout the tournament must be reported to the Bout Committee immediately (within 5 minutes of posting). Once DE round starts pool results are final and no adjustments will be made. Check all results before leaving the strip. Withdrawal: •Withdrawal during pools: A fencer who withdraws, or who is excluded, is scratched from the pool, and his results are annulled as if he had not taken part. •Withdrawal during DE: When for whatever reason a fencer cannot fence or cannot complete his bout, his opponent is declared winner of that bout. IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION: To avoid possibility of your car being towed, note these parking instructions: Parking is available in lot directly across street and also the parking lot at the southwest corner of 18th/Grove Streets. Once the main parking lot is filled there are 3 other parking locations: 1. You can park nose into the cyclone fence on 16th Street between Grove St. and Marin Blvd. DO NOT park in front of the sliding gate however. 2. There is a parking lot at the corner of Grove Street and 18th St. 3. You can go up the ramp located on Marin Blvd between 18th and 16th street. DO NOT block access to the truck bays. Stay to the right. If you are parking here we suggest you drop off your fencer (with a parent if minor) to check in. It's about a 10 minute walk down the ramp and around the block to the Lackawanna Warehouse. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION From Manhattan by train: PATH train from Manhattan to Hoboken. The walk would be about 20 minutes. Taxis available in Hoboken (appx 4 minute ride to Cobra).
