GRAFA Foil and Epee Camp with Notre Dame Coach Gia Kvaratskhelia & GRAFA Coaches Mikhail & Arkadiy Sarkisov After it was placed on hold due to COVID, we are happy to resume our highly successful camp program with coach Gia Kvaratskhelia, Notre Dame Head Fencing Coach, who lead Notre Dame fencing squad to NCAA Champions 2011, 2012 & 2021. This is a first of series of four quarterly campos with coach Gia. December 2021, March 2022 and June 2022 dates will be TBD later in the season. Maestros Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov, the head coaches of GRAFA, will be the instructors along with Coach Gia. Both Maestros hold a BS degree in Physical Education from Russian University and a Masters degree in Fencing. They were Gold Medalists of the Soviet Union in 1985, medalists at the USSR Nationals from 1986-1989 and finalists at the World Cup and Student World Game competitions. In 2005 Maestro Mikhail Sarkisov has been recognized by US Olympic Committee as Developmental Coach of the Year. Many of his students successfully compete on National and International levels. The Maestros trained several USA National Champions. Several of the Maestros student successfully fenced on NCAA Championships, earning First Team All American, Honor and All American Recognition competing for the universities such as Northwestern, Notre Dame, Temple, NYU and Cornell. COVID-19 Guidelines (Subject to Change) - Read Carefully • This camp is subject to the state of Michigan laws and orders regarding COVID-19, including assembly of persons • COVID-19 Protocols will be implemented throughout the the entire camp. There will be no exceptions. AT THIS POINT, THE CAMP IS LIMITED TO ONLY 25 FENCERS. THE FULL PAYMENT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION AND RESERVE THE SPOT IN THE CAMP Tuition: $250.00 including the meals. Day 1 lunch will be catered by local pizza parlor. Day 2 lunch will be catered by Subway Camp Schedule: Fri. 10/01 6:30 PM -7 PM Registration. 7-9PM Open fencing and evaluation of the fencers. Sat. 10/02 10AM - 12:30 PM Conditioning, footwork, theory, strategy drills 1:30 PM - 4PM Bouts based on strategy Sunday 10/03 11:00AM -12:30PM Instruction, drills 12:30PM- 1:30PM Lunch 1:30PM - 3:45PM Conditioning, footwork, theory, strategy drills. 3:45-4:00 PM Social time, during this time fencers must be picked up by their parents. 4pm -GRAFA closed Preregistration opens on 08/14/2021.
