COACHING STAFF
Coach Laurence Schiller is not only the most successful coach in Northwestern University history, he is also one of the most successful coaches in our sport with 1,262 career wins and 17 consecutive top 10 finishes at NCAA Championships. In his 40 years as Head Coach at Northwestern, he has been named USFCA NCAA Coach of the Year twice, and is the 13 time Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Schiller will share his extensive knowledge of fencing through footwork/bladework drills, bouting and lectures.
Kathy Vail is the head coach and founder of Dunwoody FC, Regional Coordinator for USA Fencing, Vice-Chair and founder of the Georgia High School Fencing League, Head coach of Roswell HS, Dunwoody HS and North Atlanta HS. Coach Vailâs students have earned NCAA fencing scholarships at major universities, as well as medals at regional, national and NCAA tournaments. She is a USFCA certified épée coach
John Stephens coaches at Dunwoody FC. He is the head coach at Campbell HS and Fellowship Christian Academy and coaches at Pope HS. Coach Stephens is a USFCA certified épée coach and an experienced armorer
Jacob Wachtel coaches at Dunwoody FC. He is the head coach at Milton HS. Coach Wachtel earned the 2013 Connor Porter Memorial Scholarship and was team captain for Pope HS. He is a USFCA certified épée coach and a USA Fencing referee in foil and épée
This is an Intensive Advanced Skills camp, for fencers with a minimum of 2 years experience. Minimum age: 13 years old Space is limited
Camp will be physically and mentally demanding. Come prepared to work hard.
HOURS:
June 15th-19th 9:00AM-4:00PM Training
June 20th USA Fencing tournament (Fee included)
CAMP FEE:
$500 per fencer A 50% non-refundable deposit is due with pre-registration at askfred.net by June 9th (Registrations that are not prepaid will be deleted from FRED) The 50% balance is due by the first day of camp and may be paid by cash or check made payable to DFC
Fencers must bring the following which must meet USA Fencing safety standards:
2-3 working electric epees
2-3 working body cords
Jacket, knickers, mask, glove, chest protector (ladies only), plastron
Fencers must also bring a notebook, a water bottle and their own lunch each day
Fencers must have signed waivers through FRED
All deposits are non-refundable
Full payment must be received by June 15th
