Fairfax Challenge SYC invites you to join us for Sabre Referee Development Clinic with leading FIE 3-weapon Referee, Fikrat Valiyev. Mr. Valiyev officiated at the last 11 World Championships and Rio'16 Olympics.

Where: Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center
When: Saturday, September 21, 5:30 - 7:30 PM
Cost: $25 (cash or check)

Mr. Valiyev will be joining us directly from Senior Worlds in to share current areas of FIE focus and convention interpretation.

Mr. Valiyev started his athletic career as a foilist with his best results being Team Silver at the 1988 USSR National Championship and Individual Silver at the 1997 Foil World Cup in Teheran.

He began coaching sabre in 2007. His students won Team Bronze at the 2011 European Championship, 4th place at the 2011 Senior Worlds, qualified for 2012 and 2016 Olympics and took individual Silver and Bronze at the 2015 European Games. Mr. Valiyev credits his success to dual-weapon upbringing as well as on overlapping dual-responsibilities as a coach and a referee.

This seminar will be helpful to aspiring referees who want to understand both rules and conventions better, fencers, who want to improve their game as well as coaches who would like to get an insight as to what the referee is looking for in making the call.
